Just wondering if lab quality glassware is [thicker..high quality enough].. to take repeated heating and cooling without cracking and breaking?

Mason jars can easily break with sudden temperature shifts ..

Are some lab glass vessels strong enough to flame heat with propper upper ventalation?

It seems like most steps in a DMT extraction [might posibly be ALL done?] in a high quality glass lab seperator making process safer and faster ..

Is this posible?

Starway,
Its funny you bring this up, though I can't answer for making processes faster/safer, I have done some research myself on direct flame heating glassware and so far my research has shown that you can only do that with "Pyrex" glassware. Below is a link to a corning guide I picked up a few months back.... it has a vast amount of information in it, and though I have not read through it all, and quite honestly leafed through it, you may find some helpful information in there.

Hope this helps - or at least points you in a better direction.

A labware seperatory funnel works well i would reccomend an all glass pyrex one with the grinded glass knob to open the seperatory funnel. It takes a little bit of practice but works quite well. I have found that large glass blenders can be used as well although this should be there only purpose after use. Be careful to not use a plastic one as you can get contaminates to possibly come through in the final product as the lye can eat away at the plastic. Good idea though i thought of this during my first extraction when i got annoyed with the syphoning. When syphoning with seperatory funnel leave enough naptha in it to make sure you do not pull through any of the lye root bark mix.

Thanks people for your advice..:)

But just a second thought...
It would be great... if one could..add fine bark and water.. heat acid boil..basify mix...shake..add then remove solvent layer all in one vessel..! without worrying about the glass breaking..
just dreaming..

Although this would be the fastest way, I don't think it would be the easiest. A separatory funnel is the easiest way to separate layers (obviously, that's what they're made for), but it would be a pain to try to do the other steps in a sep funnel.

I typically stick to borosilicate, or pyrex in a pinch, to avoid breakage. Mason jars are great and all, because they are cheap and readily available a any grocery or department store. But once you go lab glass, you never go back.
