endlessness, jorkest, acolon....any of my brothers who have experience with d-limonene-

i am curious about my jungle pull.... i put 400ml of piping hot d-limo into my exhausted basified STB soup four days ago. i rocked, rolled, lulled, chanted and conversed with it the entire time...last night i decided to pull...

got my evap pyrex baking dish out, set up the fan/evap station, busted out my trusty pyrex turkey baster and sucked out probably about 385ml of essentially clear-looking solvent.

smells like a citrusy paradise in my evap room right now....

my question:

endlessness was saying that i might want to salt this out and then do a FASW step and evap that out....he believes there's gonna be extra gunk that may render anything that evaps down unsmokeable. i- being equal parts lazy and not very scientifically gifted- would LOVE to just let this evap down, scrape and go..... what are the thoughts on evapping limonene down completely? it is evapping....but definitely slower than any other solvent i've worked with (except for maybe xylene)

there is probably still about 250ml in the evap dish right now....do i salt/FASW it now or do i let it keep evapping?

...jungle spice is a fascinating beast to start with, let alone throwing an unfamiliar solvent into the mix...if there were any residue left when it evaps all the way down, how toxic would that be? or would it maybe act as an "active" of sorts since it crosses the blood/brain barrier?

...these are the questions that keep me up at night...

I like to salt then rebase.

Limonene although nice and orangey doesn't evap cleanly, on top of that there's going to be a good few plant oils still in the limonene that will stay put if you salt out with FASW so if you evap you'll have a double helping of impurities.

You could make an experiment if desired... like, lets say, take half of that limo, and salt it out, and the other half let evap to see what comes up.. you can always redissolve it and salt if the evap doesnt come clean, and then you'll know for sure if its worth it or not..

btw, my hard-working hard-training and yet lazy friend, did you get to check out the new developments in the limo salting? If you can get some IPA, you can make your alkaloids crash straight out of limo, no need to wait hours for FASW evap or anything of the sort.. just saturate some IPA with fumaric acid and mix that to the limo.. The alks should crash out and you can just filter and let dry.. but it will be fumarates, not freebase, btw..

(better dry the IPA before, with anhydrous magnesium sulfate, sodium carbonate or just plain salt, or so I hear)

Please correct me if I'm wrong here....but if you put in hot solvent, don't you need to pull it out while still hot? My thinking is that if you heat it to increase its ability to absorb the goodies, as it cools back to room temp it would revert back.

Or is it that the stuff that falls out first is plant oils and other undesirables?

I'm asking because when I do hot pulls I keep the jar of mimosa warm in a heat bath (small cooler filled with hot water) the whole time between adding hot solvent and pulling solvent off.
