Machine, but with a small plastic bottle?

A friend of mine was considering trying DMT smoked via 'the machine'. While he thought it seemed a great way of smoking it and has friends who have had great experiences, getting a hole drilled in the bottom of a small glass bottle is simply not feasible.

My friend was wondering if there are any negative effects of using a device such as the machine, with steel wool and a 50 ML plastic bottle instead of a 50 ML glass bottle.

My friend was also curious if there was any recommended grade of steel wool for the purposes of this experiment. He was telling me he is researching this now, but the answer does not seem to be readily available anywhere that he is looking.

Thanks in advance for any help, my friend is looking forward to his first machine experience instead of his previous crappy bowl/bong experiences!

You cannot use plastic for this as it will melt or burn when you heat it. Nasty. Possibly poisonous.

My friend was reading other posts where it was said that the temperature that DMT burns at is far lower than the melting point of plastic. He definitely agrees on the point that inhaling burning plastic is dangerous and unhealthy, but will the plastic get to a burning point on a single smoking attempt?

I'm talking to him now and he is going to try to do the entire process of putting the steel wool in the plastic bottle, lighting it up, and seeing what happens to the bottle. I will report back with the results - although I'm sure people on here smarter than me already know what will happen :roll:

On another note, any idea why the steel wool wouldn't burn through the head of the plastic bottle?

PLEASE DO NOT USE A PLASTIC BOTTLE

The plastic will melt. Period. DMT may vaporize at a lower temperature than plastic will melt (although I'm fairly certain it doesn't), but the lighter will absolutely be hot enough to melt the plastic. Take a plastic bottle, and hold a lighter on the neck of it for 10 seconds or so. I guarantee you it will melt and emit harmful vapors.

Buy a drill bit made for glass/ceramic and use it on a glass bottle. It is not that hard, and it does not take that long. It might take all of 30 minutes, but there is no reason to be in such a hurry that you aren't willing to take 30 minutes to construct an adequate smoking device.

Also, you don't want to be using steel wool, steel wool will burn. You want to be using a thicker gauge stainless steel or copper scrubbing pad from the grocery store. Make sure to hold it under a torch for a couple of minutes before putting it in the bottle, to burn off any residues that might be present.

Please use your head. Plastic + fire = melting/toxic fumes.

Theres a definite reason why you can find DO NOT USE PLASTIC all over this site lol. Plastic is a no-no.


Glass is the way to go...-go lol.

I think plastic will give you a different kinda high
Try a copper scourer (pre burnt)
Buy glass drill bits, they are cheap.

Glass pipe cost $8, steel gauze cost $4 and that was a lot of gauze.
Also a torch lighter is a must!! The pipe works well with goo and crystals

Also all of the above items were found on an internet auction site.... (can i say that?)
Keep it simple, dont think about melting points and what not.
