Hey guys, im quite new to making DMT and i have had a few tries with no good results:cry: and i believe it is down to my base ( in an A/B) extraction) not being strong enough, and i was wondering if anyone had any good tips on how to make a good base and what bases i can use. i should add that buying hydroxide is very difficult due to my area and risky over the internet, which is why i would rather make the base.

Cheers :)

i was reading a forum lastnight which someone was talking about using sodium carbonate as a base? not many people gave confirmation about it in terms of their own extractions but i did have a bag of sodium carbonate so i decided i'd add some to water to see if it brings the water to alkaline level.. and im pretty sure it did. came out pinkish purple on the ph meter... my meter is a pool meter so only goes up to 8... which is a red colour... but when using sodium carbonate it pushed the colour to a pink/purple which as far as i'm aware is an indication of alkalinity. dont take my word for it though should look it up.
sodium hydroxide may be under a different name in your area? around my area in australia its sold as caustic soda which is available at any big hardware store

you can make sodium hydroxide by mixing sodium carbonate and calcium hydroxide. You can make sodium carbonate by baking sodium bicarb for a couple of hours till it loses a third of the weight (CO2 and water), and calcium hydroxide might be found in grocery stores, its used for making tortillas and other things, IIRC.

Potassium hydroxide can also work fine, if you can find that.

All safety recomendations when using strong bases are still relevant.

You can also get potassium carbonate from hardwood ash, boil it in water for a few hours, then filter out the ash. Boil it down to concentrate, then add calcium hydroxide (lime) and filter that out after cooking it for a few hours. Either use that as the base water for your extraction, or evaporate it and collect your potassium hydroxide.

Like endlessness said, be very careful when working with these chemicals.

was just reading through a tek which said this:

"The star of the show (teks) is lime . This food-safe base is a replacement for lye which is extremely caustic and toxic.

Lime/Pickling Lime/Hydrated Lime/Cal/Ca(OH)2/Calcium Hydroxide/Kalkwasser. It is a powerful base that is actually food safe. Although like anything eating a lot of it will upset your body. But not to worry. If anything at all there would be only traces of traces in the final product."
