MAX tolerance?

Hi, first of all i dont know if its the right section to post this, but maybe it is as what i have to say its stil an "experience"...
I use dmt from 3 years. During first year every trip was different at the point i was considering it as a form of entertainment. What ill do today? movie, ps5, netflix show, or maybe a new episode of my favourite show called DMT? Then every trip was weaker and weaker, i thought my vape gear was faulty or maybe i was doing something wrong. I spent more than a year buying new vape stuff, liquid combinations, googling etc. but nothing changed, while same stuff worked normally when used by other persons. I reached a point where or i get no trip or i always get the SAME one. I realized ive got a high tolerance to dmt, or at least its something im trying to figure out. Meanwhile ive also got shrooms SEVERAL times (high doses) and lsd once. No trip either, while other people gotting same stuff from same batch had trips. I know there is a cross tolerance between dmt, psylocin, and lsd, so it maybe confirms everything. I have to add that from maybe 1,5 year i get SSRIs and use mephedrone once a week. Now, ssri conunteracts with dmt, but 4mmc (mephedrone) amplificates it. Anyway ive also tried 50mg on mesh and still no change. A friend said he watched a video on YT where there was an interesting theory, an "alternative" form of tolerance: my brain already produced every possible thing was inside it and i cant get new visuals/experiences. Fact is i stopped getting dmt from about 6 months, i only try 1-2 puffs every month, but still there arent changes. What do u think about this? Does anybody had experienced the same as me?

HardTripper,

This sounds very frustrating. I doubt there is an easy answer. For sure SSRI's damp down or knock out at least some effects from psychedelics, according to some reports.

Some folks note getting no visuals but they have a disorder where their minds cannot visualize things. That does not sound like your situation.

To be brutally honest, your situation sounds like a variation on "Lockout" to me. I would be interested in what others have to say on this. What is so very confusing is that the lockout (if that is what it is) is spread to other entheogens.

Have you ever tried taking a big break (like a year or more) off from tripping? Have you ever approached tripping with a strong intention for growth/healing/learning/spirituality or is it always just a fun ride and entertainment? Not judging, as I approve of all uses but I find myself very curious about these things . . . .

What is this lockout? and yes, im trying to get a big break as its the only remaining thing i can do...

Lockout is a very odd phenomenon for some who use DMT. It makes no sense at all in terms of the science of tolerance and such things. Some users experience lockout meaning that DMT no longer works for them. Sometimes they have a trip where they are told Do NOT come back or You are NOT welcome. A friend in chat said he was flying and ran into a God who said, Stay out for a week - you interrupted my business. Some folks see symbols like chained doors or gigantic flashing red X's. From that time forward, no matter what they do, the dose they take, how hard they try, DMT does not work for them. They are "locked out."

well i have something similar. i said i have only one trip always the same, but that happens with higher doses. its not a bad trip, but no fancy visuals, nor "special effect". however, at mid dose i have a bad trip involving "taps" on my body that distracts me, items, like phone, disappearing from where it is and appears elsewhere, so if i "get it", i get nothing instead and it reappers elsewhere, or a movement on my hands that acts like something drops from it, and many other disturbing things. one time i had this bad trip at higher dose and it was a nightmare, i closed eyes and waited till it ended. but basically it "says" no trip for u, only bad trip

I'm very sorry to read that. And there is no way to know what factor SSRI's are playing here.

With DMT, as soon as the device is safe, I always recommend laying back (at an angle) and closing the eyes then if there is a shred of mind left at that point, work hard on letting go and surrendering.

I was surprised to read that your high dose trips are always the same. I've used DMT a LOT and every time it is very different/novel. Sometimes the openings/beginning are similar but once things get up and running I am always surprised.

I would hope that a long break and maybe really composing one's mind/intention, like a day of meditation and good eating before trying again, might improve things a bit. Get your intention figured out and speak it aloud before you take the first hit. . . that kind of thing.

I don't actually know what the solution (if there is one) to lockout is. I would like to learn more. There is a big part of me that believes somehow lockout must be reversible. . . . I am still hoping other folks might actually comment on this thread . . .

I don't believe a lockout is necessarily a bad thing. It's more like a natural law to encourage you to do your homework and integration before your next journey.
It seems like people who experience lockouts are banging on the same door without realizing where the key is. I would proceed with @Pandora's advice and look closer at your outer and inner environment. No one knows what's inside you, and this resistance exists for a reason. Nothing is truly random. Even your SSRIs play a role and are part of this situation.

There are no bad trips - only your judgment of them. This is where you can see the root of your resistance and figure out why it is happening.
Taking nature walks, eating good food, getting plenty of rest, having a fine social life, and covering all the other basics tend to heal this condition.
Basically, it's your unique puzzle to figure out.
All the best 🙏
