Mesc/DMT Extraction: adding too much base?

Does anyone know if it's possible to destroy mescaline or DMT by making a solution too basic? SWIM has a digital pH meter but it's a pain to set up and make sure it's calibrated. He'd just as soon add base liberally and then confirm that the pH is basic with pH paper... but he's worried that he might make the solution way too basic and ruin some of the goods.

FWIW the bases my friend has at his disposal are calcium hydroxide and NaOH

DMT is stable at 14 (or higher) ph. No worries there.

Just use lime for mesc extraction and you'll be fine

yes, there is no risk adding too much base with DMT, it wont degrade DMT, it is very stable...
