here is a brief overview of my extraction. I used a nice fat 12 inch cutting piece of San Pedro. I cut it up into very small pieces put it in the blender and turned it into a juice.I added some water at 2.5 pH and reduced on low heat for several hours.I tend toward of my juice into a zip lock Tupperware container and froze over night.the next day I did another acid-water reduction on the stove and cool this off.I made 3 percolators separated all the sludge liquid equally.eyes and read more acid water through all three percolators into a collection jar.I did this several times over a span of days until I collected about a gallon of juice.eyes and reduced that Jews to 300 milliliters and added sodium hydroxide accordingly.the Jews turns nearly read almost orange and became sludgy and thick.I've ended 30 I lean poles and collected 300 milliliters of Solvent.I put my xylene into my separatory funnel and salted with moore ionized water at pH 2.5. 3 saltings over three days.9 pulls total.this year old is referenced in the pic below on the piece of paper.my fourth salting is on the Pyrex dish to the right.this was also 3 pulls using ionized water.what I don't understand is that the fourth salting seems to be more pure.1 through 3 came out tan, but still glistening.the fourth came out your white, and again glistening.this has me a little worried as I think there might be salt in there.the crystal formation on the Pyrex dish after drying were very small perfectly square crystals scattered about.

yeah, sodium type contam is really possible here- when too much acid is used especially/
i've not used acid in extraction for years as it is not needed

you can do a flame test for sodium, or a taste test
 
A flame test? It is combustible? Would a reX remove the salts? And you said you don't use acid.you sick with stb? Do you have yield pics?

yes a re-x is the way to remove sodium if present.

you went stb w/o defatting step right?
all you did was cook and add acid and reduce before adding base.
what i'm saying is you dont need to add acid, these alkaloids are very water soluble w/o acid//

i've posted pictures before, what are you looking to see?
 
I don't believe my extraction was considered stb. All my pre base steps involved acid water at pH of 2.5 then based with sodium hydroxide. In any event my product my have salt contamination. I went over phluxs reX and am a bit confused. Acetone and water mix obviously.so I make my solution and dissolve my product in it, then what? Impurities remain sold and fall to the bottom? Then I decant and evaporate? Also what should the pH of the acetone solution be?
 
So you how many times did you pull the basic layer with xylene? What acid did you use?

You can taste test your product and if it tastes salty or doesnt dissolve in your mouth instantly, it is probably contaminated with salts in which case it would need to be cleaned up if you want pure product and/or an accurate weight measurement. Phlux's clean-up tek is for HCl if I remember right and cleans imputirities by repeatedly dissolving in water + acetone, filtering, and evaporating. Or you can re-x or do another small a/b procedure. But that is just a lot of extra work unless you know for sure it is salt contaminated.
 
Using a ..[tiny].. sample...The white stuff shoud not taste salty.
.Mescaline should taste bitter and maybe bite a little..
If it burns its lye...
