MHRB Powdered. Yields getting lower and lower

Hi, I've asked this question before and it was moved to the FAQ section.
My yields have gone lower and lower to the point now where its not really worth extracting.
I'm talking 2g spice from 400g powder, I used to get at least 8g clean spice.
Lets just say for augments sake that my extraction methods are perfect so that's not an issue.
What I think is that because I've had this powder for well over a year kept in room that does get hot from time to time (central heating), so maybe the organic matter has deteriorated , even though it looks and smells like bog standard powdered MHRB.

Does my theory make sense ? Its the only logical explanation I can come up with.
Maybe if I ever buy in bulk again ill freeze it.

I've had powdered mimosa stored for years in a closet in tropical place with no noticeable potency lost. A year should not make a noticeable difference at all.

Was there any change in solvent or other chemicals use? Or is it possible material was not perfectly homogeneized and you are now extracting more fibers or other less rich material? Otherwise the only possibility I see is some oxidation of DMT, which I find unlikely to happen. In any case you could try out a side by side extraction, and with one of them do a zinc reduction, to see if your yields increase.

By the way, 2g spice from 400g powder is still definitely worth extracting, don't be spoiled

As a tangential question, is it possible you are overusing DMT, wasting it from smoking instead of vaporizing, or anything of the sort? 2g of DMT can last a long time if well managed.

Is it always new solvent or reused one ? There should be definitely more then 2g in 400g of MHRB. You should get around 5g from that.

Maybe its time to try different tek you never know. Since I tried it first time I only use this one. It gives me the best result. Try it.

Hi guys, I really cant figure this out.
Its only over the last 3 extractions that this has occurred .
I have tried adding heat to the tek to try and make everything work better but no joy.
I can only guess that this powder either went from potent to weak, content wise or maybe because I've stopped switching the freezer to super freeze so maybe all the spice isn't falling out or its the solvent .
I use a high quality, hard to get a hold of Hexane which I use 2 times max. I did check the bottles for dates but they don't have a sell by date.
Next week I'll have some new MHRB, only this stuff I have to dust up myself (life is cruel)
I will do a tek and that will let me know what's going on, im nearly mostly sure the powder has degraded ????

I bet if you evap or partial evap and freeze you'll have plenty of DMT.
Hopefully you saved your solvent.

I normally do a partial evaporation . I have never tried a full evaporation does that work good? My Hexane disappears in the blink of an eye so a full evap would be easier and quicker .
I think this weekend I will do another extraction and turn the freezer rite up and hit the turbo freeze button.
Its a process of elimination now.
If it is the freezer, I deserve a slap for wastage , physical not hyper :|

You said you bought in bulk, I'm assuming multiple packages? If so did you notice a yield loss before or after using a different package of bark. It could be some of your powder was a different/inferior bark. Did you get it that way or did you grind it yourself? I've read alot of complaints about pre-powdered rootbark being impotent.

Also check this out, I think it probably flew over most people's heads but maybe it'll help you recover some missing spice.

Yes the low yields happened from one brick to another. NO TALK ABOUT AVAILABILITY TOO I'm back to getting dust up my nose. I never found it to impotent though.
That's quite interesting, the weight business .
I do in fact have the solvent from the pulls but what I did throw away was the solvent from the re x, because its a small amount I normally bin it, although it probably was loaded with the good stuff (dumb ass).

Happened to me once, I had distilled some DCM out of some paint thinner, amd stupid, stupid me never bothered checking the density and tossed out the wrong layer. It was 70ml dcm extracting 250g quality bark.

Please, I once spent an age extracting Alks from Rue seeds only to take a phone call whilst cleaning up. After the phone call I was like, hmm where's the Alks from 500g of Rue seeds gone.
I had poured them down the sink , what a muppet :?

I've just finished another extraction, this time 400g MHRB .
The results are disturbing .
I did get a hold of some new root bark but I figured that the problem was that I had turned the freezer temp down so I used the same powder as I have done all year this time I turned the freezer onto turbo freeze. It did nothing to increase my yields.
The only 2 things that could be responsible is :

1.The powder went from a good batch to a poor batch? ( very likely)

2.The Hexane has gone off (near impossible).

One thing I have noticed and wonder if any one has any ideas, The last few extractions I have noticed that when I add the solvent to the mixture (water/lye/Mimosa) and stir it in (6 ltr cookie jar) that the solvent mixes in quicker than previously .
I remember I used to have to stir for a long time and really work to get the solvent to mix but recently it seems to mix with less than half of the previous effort? ..

It was the MHRB powder.
I had 3 kilos. The first 2 bricks were fine but the third brick had hardly any DMT in it.
At least I know now :thumb_up:
