Mini-ab extraction and recrystallization using dichloromethane

I used hexane to make dmt. However, it seems that not all of it evaporates because of the additives in the hexane. The result was a gooey solvent and crystals. So I am going to do a mini-ab extraction method and recrystallization using dichloromethane. Could you please tell me the possible problems in doing mini-ab extraction and recrystallization using dichloromethane? I thought I should ask because I once did the Stb extraction method using dichloromethane and it failed. I am hoping someone would be kind enough to help me. There is a high probability you will just extract the DMT and the additives from the hexane into the DCM, evaporating then leads to the same result. Notice this is the same answer on the same question you have asked before.

Without knowing what the additives are it’s impossible to really know how to clean up your extract. Since you don’t know what you’re doing I recommend you start over and check all your ingredients before using them, check MSDS and do evaporation test on your solvent. Then take your materials and follow one of TEKS from the wiki, try this one:

you probably wont succeed in getting crystal formation from DCM, things that dissolve DMT really well tend to be terrible at allowing crystals to form. plus you shouldnt be allowing DCM to touch DMT for that long. to get crystals from something other than naptha/hex/heptane you need a really slow evaporation, if its too fast, you just get goo again, but DCM is ill suited to a slow evap given its incredibly volatile and also reacts with DMT.

look up how to clean naptha, it should apply to hexane too the contams are the same, probably exposure to rubber or soft plastics that got leeched. i think you can clean solvent up a bit with adding some basic water, draining, then acidic water, and draining. ive seen something along those lines.

Lastly, consider FASA or FASIPA/FASI, fumaric acid is cheap and the method works.
