Ok so it has been in the 'fruiting' stage now for, about 2 weeks give or take a few days. Where i am thinking i might have messed up is during inoculation, i was ignorant of how to insert the needle and inoculate, some spores were lost with my clumsyness but i did manage to get maybe a ml or 2 in there, i let it sit for 30 days like it said but i dont think it fully colonized as you can probably see, i decided to fruit them anyways because i just wanted to follow instructions, i have them in a place now where they are getting more heat because i thought that might be a problem, qwhat do u guys think should i wait and see if a mushroom or two pops out, wait and see if they colonize more, start from scratch with higher temp? I learned that misting them with water was a good think to do but it didn't sat to do so in the directions.... help will be much appreciated, peace+love,

based on the virtual complete lack of relevent information to the information that you seek i will try to advise you anyways...1st it doest appear that you have RH or FAE (relative humidity and fresh air exchange respectively) you will need these things to induce fruiting...also for most species i would suspect you need a 70 F temp...if there are strong fluxuations from this even for just a few hours it can stall out your growth...also many mushrooms have a natural stalling phase were the substrate will be colonized but nothing will fruit even if fruiting conditions are met...all these things vary from one species to another but nonetheless i would wait a week before getting even remotely impatient about finding pins, if the substrate was not fully colonized it might not pin...(they like to finish their food before they get all sexual) if the substrate should have finished but hasnt and is not showing any sighns of new growth it could be contaminated the most common culprit for this is wet spot which is a bacterial colony, but aside from the details infinitum that you could get distracted with i would just focus on getting lots of fresh air and lots of humidity in the air...the sides of your chamber should look misty or dewy if the sub is already dried out you might need to dunk and roll...i feel like im chasing my own tail so ima stop now

Ok ill try to be as clear as possible as to what i did/what happened. I appreciate the advice above^ That is what i am using in the links above^^

Ok so My initial attempt at inoculation was used without the needle(i know) i poked a hole with a paperclip and tried to inoculate it because i thought they had not sent a needle to me. I then wiped of the spores of maybe a few ml. (baasically this didn't work. I then saw the fucking needle and used the needle to successfully inoculate about 3 ml of spores.

After 4 weeks of sitting under my bed in darkness, it did not seem fully colonized but i wanted to follow intructions so i proceeded to dunk it/submerge. I followed the steps from there, the fruiting stage. I was told to sit back for 2 weeks and mushrooms would appear, they have not yet appeared.

(my temp was probably high 60s up untill the last few days where i moved it to low maybe even mid 70s)

I'd ditch that thing and get it out of the house. If it wasn't fully colonised then competitor organisms will get the upper hand very quickly. If you get a Trichoderma bloom it could contaminate any future projects you attempt in that room. If you dunk a cake before it is colonised then the chance of contamination skyrockets.

Generally speaking, cooler temps are preferable in the stage where the cake or sub is colonising as mycelium is thermogenic ie it generates its own heat. The warmer the ambient temperature is the more chance you have of contamination. Once it's colonised and it goes into the fruiting chamber then you need to optimise temps for fruiting.

I'd treat that as a lesson and put it down to experience. Then I'd start again knowing I won't be making that mistake again.

You haven't failed, you've just found one process that doesn't work.

Thanks Hieronymous, I understand, my new plan is to use the spores and use my own home-made pf tek of which i have been learning about in the last couple of days.

Edit-would it be possible to dunk it again and re-start inoculation or not at all?

Edit2- i just threw them out, when i looked inside the bag there was a white glowing on one side and little white fuzzes were coming out of it. Only on 1 side though...
