multiple types of jungle spice from the same extraction?

hello. SWIM asked me to post his story and ask his questions. nothing is real.

SWIM recently did a STB extraction, and decided to also go for some of the jungle spice. the extraction was split between 7 different containers. after 3 pulls had been done with naptha, SWIM decided to pull with toluene on 2 of the containers. the toluene was allowed to evaporate normally in the sun, and yielded an impressive amount of a dark red gooey substance, just like he'd expected.

thing is, SWIM's yield of this dark red stuff was pretty big. almost too big. so he decided to rinse with naptha an additional 2 times on the other 5 containers, to make sure he'd gotten all of the white goodness out before pulling the red.

so then, after 5 naptha pulls, SWIM brings in the toluene on the remaining containers. he was getting a bit impatient at this point, and evaporated the toluene under a heat lamp instead of naturally. to his surprise and confusion, instead of the dark red goo he ended up with a very hard yellow waxy substance almost identical to crack cocaine!?

so SWIM comes and does some reading, and sees that people have pulled this yellow stuff trying to get jungle spice as well. but it sounds like most people see the red from STB and the yellow from A-B... so how did he manage to get both from the same STB rinse?

also, the yellow stuff smells just like normal white spice, but about 4 times as strongly, to the point where some people find it unpleasant. the red stuff has a completely different odour, very strong and reminiscent of a solvent, though not in any way like toluene. SWIM has hacked it to bits with a razor and let it sit out in fear that it might still have some toluene in it, but it hasn't changed form since about 12 hours after extraction.

in short, to those of you who have encountered these things, do these smells sound right or should SWIM be worried? and has anybody encountered both substances from the same batch like this?
 
toluene can be very tough to evaporate so be wary.

someone i know sort of, in the course of his extractions has isolated both red and yellow gunk. red gunk comes from when he pulls with toluene of diethyl ether. from the red gunk he has isolated white spice using warm hexane pulls. he gets the yellow stuff when he freeze precipitates in hexane and evaporates the hexane after separating it from the crystals theres always this yellow stuff. and they did both come from a STB extract and also from a A/B extract. these colored compounds are totally normal to find in M. hostilis, which is known to be loaded with tannins etc which tend to be colored.

personally according to this person he would not use any of these cruder extracts for smoking. the mixtures are probably filled with tannins and other pigmentation compounds. when you take this stuff orally people tend to vomit their guts out so why anyone would want to smoke this stuff doesn't seem clear to me. DMT in its pure form has a very safe pharmacological profile so i don't see the need to smoke crude extracts because thats all these colored mixtures really are.
 
I dunno, personally I think there's something going on with the colored extracts. You're probly right that it's mostly pigments and tannins, but if nothing else they must be lending their own effect somehow.

Callaway's paper "Isolation and Characterization of Yuremamine" shows the proposed structure for the yuremamine molecule (the other alkaloid present in MHRB), which looks like basically a DMT molecule bonded to a tannin. A post on another forum by Dozuki showed his thin-layer chromatographic analysis of an MHRB extract, wherein it was shown that yuremamine degrades under basic conditions into something that is neither DMT nor yuremamine, but a "YDP" as dozuki called it, meaning a Yuremamine Degredation Product.

In Swim's experience, this degredation product is decidedly psychoactive, yet somehow different from DMT. It's basically another part of the mimosa spirit, the yin to n-n's yang, if you will. Swim considers this valuable. He ultimately prefers "full-spectrum" mimosa extract, which is usually orange, that being the unseparated "white" and "jungle" spices.

To remove solvent residue, Swim's friend puts everything in a pitri dish, which is then placed in an empty ceramic crock pot liner, with the crock pot on "high." Leave it for several hours until no solvent smell is left.
 
you are certainly right that any other components in these mixtures whether alkaloid or some other compounds most likely do play a role in the drugs effects.

my only concern is that the more stuff you smoke the pyrolitic byproducts you create from burning it. like the oral use of mimosa extracts and brews is fine but when you start smoking other compounds different things may happen. but yea maybe my friend who has some of this red stuff will give it a try and see what everyone is taking about heh heh 😉
 
Yeah I understand your fears and all, but considering what small amounts we're dealing with here... smoking a few mg of tannins, oils, etc. every now and then can't be any worse than breathing in campfire smoke, considering it's ultimately just wood (components) burning either way.

And it's most definately better than all that crap they put in people's cigarettes n' stuff, and there's people that smoke a pack a day of that crap and still live thru their fifties! :lol:

Dude, I tell you what man. Do yourself a favor and try that red stuff. You'll see what we mean. Just strap yourself in and hold on! 😉

Hey wait a sec... aren't you the same dude who was just sayin' on another post that there's nothin' to worry about from the dangers of solvent inhalation? Hah, looks like our respective paranoias fall on opposite ends of the spectrum! :lol:
 
yea at first somenoe who isnt me was skeptical. as someone who isnt me studies herbal drugs for a living he totally understand the benefits and dangers of consuming mixtures of compounds. someone who isnt me will inform on his journey in the future (might be a while hes very busy speaking of which must back to workhaha)


and yes your absolutely right about that paranoia hahahahha. its funny how the mind works sometimes eh?
