Music That Feels Like a Substance

Migrated topic.

I'm certain a post like this is sitting somewhere on the forums, but if it is, it's not recent.

Any substance at all, think of music that sounds/feels/reminds you of it.

Tool - Rosetta Stoned: DXM. This one is fairly obvious I think. ;)

Shpongle ...and the day turned to night. My favourite song ever I think. Reminds me of a deep mushroom trip.

Shpongle, the group first formed after making this song, after the guys observed a solar eclipse in India, and tried to put that experience into musical form.

I've got that in my music library, I'll have to be sure to give it a listen since I'm not recalling it. Shpongle is great though, especially the videos of them. Talk about a strange stage show!

Soulfood: Ahhh, nutmeg. I've tried nutmeg three times. Each time I went through quite a bit of water and was pretty much high for a day, fuzzy headed for another day. Strange stuff. Leaves me feeling too lethargic to really appreciate though.

benzyme: Thanks for sharing, I'll give that a listen later. :)

Here is one for you Leap. Bassnectar Live mix for KISS FM-its a free download on his website it sounds like Exstacy and DMT have made love and this 35 min mix is there love child.

Ah, thanks! Downloading now.

If anyone gets the chance, check out a video of Nine Inch Nails' 31 Ghosts IV live and tell me what that makes you think of.. ;) Should be some very good straight on mounted cams of it available.

Androcell has just gained a new fan. Awesome stuff, I like Androcell even more than Shpongle. :d

The album "Röyksopp - Melody AM" brings me back to my best acid trip ever...dont know if it's considered very acidy though. But it's a very good record=)

samples:

Royksopp - in space

Röyksopp - Eple

I love Royksopp. :D More good stuff. I need to take the time and actually post some more of my favorites substance like music.. hehe

Ugh, almost too much.

Lol, Cisco Kid by Sublime: Marijuana 8)

Six Days At The Bottom of The Ocean by Explosions In The Sky: Mushrooms (for me anyways)

A Perfect Circles "Thirteenth Step" (whole album), but "The Noose" specifically remind me of when my life was shattered away by LSD. I never cried so hard, but felt so liberated at the same time.

To SWIM this is the spirit of DMT, at least how it makes him feel in his sober life. Primal Scream's 'Come Together', on 'Screamadelica'.

IF you guys like Air's 'Moon Safari' and Royksopp, check out these trippy downtempo albums: Boards of Canada- Geogaddi; Bent- Programmed to Love; Bluestates- Nothing Changes under the Sun; Kinobe- Soundphiles; Bonobo- Animal Magic; Lemon Jelly; Quantic- The 5th Exotic. Leaf records have some trippy stuff too.

The Orb 'Adventures from...', Leftfield 'Leftism', and Deep Forest 'Deep forest' are nice trippy albums too. SWIM can't handle listening to anything harder than these when tripping!

AllMusic | Record Reviews, Streaming Songs, Genres & Bands is a good site for nerding out choosing which album to start with and listening to samples.
