My Changa Experiments

Thanks folks.
I've left a little sprinkle of my extracted Harmalas in a few drops of fresh naphtha just to see if it dissolves, it doesn't look like it will, it just distributes the powder.

I'll dilute and see what happens, I should have thought that I didn't need to go past the harmalas precipitating but I did sprinkle in a little more Lye after that before checking the pH. There will also be a little fine-ground plant material in there too which I think is kinda sitting in the top layer, I might get some coffee filters while out today.

Dilution along did a good job @Transform added 2x its starting volume of water and it still measured the same pH.
My goodness! Filtering the harmalas and fine plant matter out is so boring! Maybe coffee filters aren't the best but easier to get than proper Lab filter papers.

I've left naphtha in a jug that had a layer of freebase harmala crud (technical term!) coating the bottom - the stuff which already refused to dissolve even in concentrated vinegar. The naphtha did pick up a slight fluorescence despite there being no visible sign of the crud having dissolved. Thus, it will be interesting to hear of your observations in this respect.

Have you been using a UV light to assist with your harmala extractions yet?

DMT acetate also would probably not turn foul-smelling due to degradation like delicate freebase.
While the acetate did appear to vaporise effectively, people who did this regularly generally ended up reporting it feeling harsher on the lungs than correctly vaporised freebase, that is of course not burnt, pyrolysed or otherwise overheated.

Yep, I have a little AAA battery UV light.... because, who doesn't like glowing stuff!!

I'm now fully filtered, just need my 500ml flask to be free after its finished with on my TnT Vodka TEK extraction before I add my Naphtha.
Not keeping the harmala sediment/precipitate.

Understandable given the cheapness and relative abundance of harmalas... can't really blame you for not wanting to fiddle around with that.
Then again, it's pretty easy to clean them up from herbaceous matter by acidifying and filtering, etc etc. (Etc. being quite a large part of harmala purification ime!)

My exact thoughts, just before I put it in the bin ;-)
