Naptha and solution are not separating.

Hi there, any help would be appreciated. A/B process. After putting naptha in and mixing with solution, the naptha is not separating or not separating as much. Any idea what is happening?

Add hot brine (35 grams of salt in 100 ml water) and/or put in a heat bath, if not separated in an hour ad a bit more naphtha and continue as usual. This should solve your issue.

Have in heart bath at about 120 degree. Hot brine as in boiling hot? Thank you

No it’s more, if you’re making it just add it hot, you need a bit of heat in the soup anyway, an alternative would be to add more base.

Ok thanks again. It's weird I have 1 jar that separates immediately after mixing together, but the other 2 it's almost like it's trapping the naptha.

IMO lye and heat is the only way to go if you want to do only a few pulls and get it all. I got a mag stir heat plate off amzn for $50 and it is the best thing I ever bought for this stuff. I use to fear emulsion, now I laugh at it.

Yea i got it done with a heat bath,but the naptha is darker then normal almost like it's dyed lol.

High heat will bring more oils and tannins. It'll make your Nap look like dirty piss. You can clean it after you freeze precip and gently pour off the solvent, leaving your crystal stuck to the glass pan. Then, you can use Sodium Carbonate- baking soda put on a cookie sheet and into an oven at 150-170° for 30mins or so. Then, a cpl tblsp of powder into dirty naphtha and shake vigorously. Let it settle and watch it lighten in color. Shake it again, then add ice cold water, and shake one more time. Let it separate and pipette or syringe off the cleaned naptha.

Ok thank you. It was pretty brown! I put it in the freezer and it all fell to the bottom it looked like fats . I just poured the top nap into another container and I'll see what happens over night

Tannins aren’t soluble in naptha and are highly water soluble.. you won’t find them in freebase extracts. It is usually fairly minor amounts of oily compounds that colour spice as they are soluble in NP solvents. If it’s a solid yellow/brown crystal then the amount is pretty minor and more cosmetic than anything.
