Hello I need some help with extracting mescaline,I didn't want to do a extraction I cooked 180g of Trichocereus bridgesii inside a cast iron pot and there are a bad iron taste to it that is why I want to extract it. From this point after the boiling I need some help. I have some acids, HCl, citric acid and acetic acid for base I can use sodium hydroxide, 25% Ammonia and for solvents I have xylene, diggers shellite naphtha and hexane I also have ethanol and methanol.

Thanks appreciate.
How did you proceed? Did you get anywhere with this?

Given the materials you listed, I'd have suggested basing with NaOH, followed by xylene pulls then recover alkaloids by titrating with HCl.

Not sure if you'd get a good recrysallisation of mesc HCl from ethanol, it might depend on how clean it was to start with. Consider getting hold of acetone, ipa, and MEK. Ofc, if you're going in that direction CIELO starts to make as much sense.

Anyhow, this is months later and I just wondered how it went for you

extracting from tea is a whole other ball of wax than powder, liquid liquid w naoh IME, salting w vinegar for simplicity, just dont shake the vessel when pulling or youll end up with the worst emulsion (most times) slow and steady stirring, after day 2 its basically soap so you cant just walk away, hot bath helps
