Got a bunch of real waxy gunk from a STB extraction. Can I acidify with vinegar, defat with naphtha, then freebase and collect from a naphtha layer?

Yes you can, it should help clean up, but it wont clean up the water soluble impurities.
Try a recrystallization with heptane, or naphtha after.
