Hello!

As you may have gathered, my name is Dave. I am interested in things spiritual. I have never experienced DMT but have been interested in it for some time. I was researching the legality of DMT and how many cases have been prosecuted against people found with it where I live (very few) when I stumbled across this site. I have only been aware of your community for 24 hours or so but I already feel much more educated about the subject than I was before. I found this thread to be particularly informative. Thank you to those who "sticky-ed" it.

I became interested in entheogens after a few experiences with mushrooms and have since had many more mushroom experiences and a couple dozen or so experiences with some of the stronger extracts of Salvia Divinorum. One of the many things I learned from mushrooms was that nothing in my life prior to mushrooms had prepared me in any way for mushrooms. One thing I learned from Salvia was that mushrooms had not in any way prepared me for Salvia. I expect I will feel similarly about DMT.

I'm really excited to be here! I plan to look through the information available and learn to do the extraction. Hopefully one day in the not-too-distant future I may meet these elves.

You mentioned extracting DMT... Did you also consider taking DMT orally as in, ayahuasca or an analogue preparation?

I have considered taking it orally and am interested in that as well. I'm still learning but I have in mind to eventually try a variety of methods and analogues. At present I'm still in that early learning phase where I don't know what I don't know. Would I be better off starting out with Ayahuasca? Is it easier to brew than extract? What's the deal with the analogues like 5-MeO and 5-HO? Are those synthetic? I have read that 5-MeO-DMT is quite strong and it has appealed to me for that reason.

There appears to be a wealth of information here. I don't have the education to fully grasp much of the chemistry that is discussed (though I did take an organic chemistry class in college so I at least have an inkling about it) but what I've read so far has been helpful and informative. I will continue reading and I'm sure I will have many questions as I prepare for this future journey. :d

Don't worry about the lack of formal chemistry education! Most of us (me included) have had no formal chem education and learned everything through constant surfing the Nexus, practicing with extraction chemistry and general curiosity researching the topics of interest out there

I highly suggest you read the FAQ if you haven't yet, it's definitely a good starting point for a lot of these questions you might have.

5-MeO-DMT is more potent by weight than DMT, yes, but believe me that doesn't really mean anything, because with any of these substances you are already reaching the limits of what human consciousness can experience and will already leave you grasping for answers like a drowning man grasps for air, you don't need to find anything 'stronger'

Different DMT 'analogues' such as 5-MeO-DMT and 5-HO-DMT (bufotenine), appart frmo DMT itself of course, are naturally occuring and can in theory be extracted from different plants/life forms.. They are found even in our own bodies in trace amounts... That being said, they could also be synthesized, but here in the Nexus we generally don't talk about those synthesis since they can involve watched chems or dangerous proceedures. We also don't talk about 'sourcing' these compounds here, check our attitude page for more info

Ayahuasca is a good starting point if you feel called to it Do your research, brew it properly and take it in appropriate dosage, set and setting, all should be good. I suggest first time having a sitter or taking with someone experienced, or if neither of those are possible, start with very low doses and raise gradually.

It doesn't have to be a either-or' decision, you can also simultaneously be investing your investigation efforts towards extracting DMT, and trying that out vaporized with a propper vaporization method and appropriate dosage.

Thanks! I've been reading through the FAQ and will continue to do so. I just discovered that there has been a crackdown on the necessary plant matter in the past year so I suppose I'll be adding some plants to my garden in the near future. If this is where the path leads then this is where I will go. :d It'll be a little longer until I can take my first journey but that'll give me plenty of time to study and prepare, as far as such a thing is possible. It'll be nice to harvest it from my own garden as well. Working the earth is rewarding and the labor adds to the enjoyment and appreciate of the fruit.
