i searched and couldn't find anything. anyone ever tried smoking through a regular pipe or bong, using a piece of red hot charcoal? to heat, yet not touch a flame to the spice? if not, try it, and post results. i cannot try it, im not ready to try spice. eventually...

I wouldn't use charcoal. I've used a bong before. Worked good. Just pack a 1/2 bowl of weed. Sprinkle your spice. Then sprinkle a little weed on top. And light it up.
I think the best way is with one of these:

The fact that the charcoal constantly heats the DMT would make continuous smoke that may be stressful ("I have to smoke it before it burns!" )
SWIM tried smoking with a candle once and it was pretty hectic.
There are enough efficient techniques out there to protect the spice, people have tried LOTS of things including electric-cigarette, copper-mesh, light bulbs, weed-style vaporizers, etc.
The most popular seems to be the enhanced-leaf or leaf-bed. The Vapor-genie is very popular. SWIM uses "the machine" moulded on a bubbler.
All protect the spice just fine.
Great idea, though it's unlikely one that will catch on.

As Q21Q21 mentioned, the constant smoke can be an issue-- a lot of wastage, or a lot of quick puffing.

HASH OIL PIPE!!
I had a lot of strange looks when I headed to the smoke shop and asked for a meth pipe.
I tried describing it first and they seemed confused so I said "I guess...the best thing to call it is a meth pipe?"
They laughed and told me no. Bahh.

SWIM uses a hookah, with the charcoal thing. It works like a charm. Do it herb-spice-herb style, then put the perforated aluminium on top and then the charcoal.asdfasdf said:
Do not listen the other people, you really do not lose anything and it produces amazing results. The charcoal does not vaporise the spice if you do not inhale air, which basically drives air into the hookah bowl that gets heated up by the charcoal.

These pipes are excellent cause they don't waste a single bit. It'll stay in there for weeks and be ready when you heat it up again, as SWIM has recently found out.
