Noman TEK: Water ratio for pre-powdered bark?

Hey everyone,

So I've been studying Noman's STB TEK in preparation for my extraction. I have some pre-powdered bark, and was wondering about your personal experiences with Noman's remark about needing 1.5-2x the water if using pre-powdered MHRB.

What have you gotten for yields with 1x, 1.5x, and/or 2x the water ratio and which is optimal?

Also, since the volume of the water is greater do you need to increase the amount of lye in order to get the pH up the same amount? I would assume so but I figured I'd ask to be sure.

great question, i have been looking for the answer also.
on my first extraction i ballparked it somewhere between 1.5 and 2x, didnt measure exactly 1 cup or not.
any info would be great!

You don't need to add more lye.
The water ratio shouldn't affect yield.

15ml/g works fine and you will never need more then 1g of lye per 1g of mhrb.. it is already overkill

expect anywhere from .5% to 2% depending on the bark.

I plan on using 150g MHRB, 150g Lye, 2.25L Water, and 100mL Naphtha. I also plan to shake the mixture instead of rolling it around and then letting any emulsification work itself out. I'll report back with yields.

I think it would be neat if this site or another like it had a database system where people could submit the amounts of each material they used, where the MHRB (or other DMT containing plant material) came from, etc. This way we could do some actual statistical analysis on which methods have the greatest yield. Just a thought

I just use about 4-5 mls of water per gram of lye/bark.. Works fine for me..

keep the ratio as it says in the tek and it will be perfect.
