Non Polar Solvents

I am trying to find a good non polar solvent but do not have the money to try multiple brands etc. and determine how cleanly they evaporate. I am not worried about whether it will pull a large spectrum of tryptamines or not(I am actually interested in 5-MEO and bufetenine too). I mainly want something that is not going to cost too much and not leave any toxic residue.

Lab grade chemicals count ? DCM is about 15$/L here.

Also if you wish a more detailed products recommendation you might want to add your location, country wise.
 
I've wondered a bit whether mineral oil aka paraffin oil would work, but never tried it myself. It has almost the same polarity as naptha (mineral oil dielectric constant: 2.1 @ 80f, hexane 1.9 @ 68f, napthalene: 2.5 @ 68f) but you would most likely need to pull the actives out of the mineral oil with an acid instead of freeze precipping. On the plus side, mineral oil is very safe (its used as a laxative) and cheap.
 
That is really strange that you mention that becuz maybe yesterday I remember seeing a can of mineral oil in my basement. It says that it is a paint thinner( the can did not actually say anything now that I think of it. How rude! :) )

I was wondering if I could use that but I wouldn't try until I hear someone with experience using mineral oil.
 
you could use it but than you have to recover your spice by freezing and than get the fuck out of the remaining oils on the crystals
