Non-psychedelic MAOIs.

OK, my question is, does anyone know any MAOIs which do nothing else other than inhibiting the MAO? I know about harmine and harmaline, but I'm interested in something which will make DMT trips longer, without "interference" from other psychedelics.

MAOI's are not psychedelic in themselves, all they do is block monoamine oxidase enzymes, which has nothing to do with psychedelic effects. What they do is prevent the enzymes from oxidizing psychoactive compounds, which renders them inactive and prepares them for excretion.

there are weak and strong, reversible MAOIs, and weak/strong irreversible MOAIs. you are interested in the former. Passionflower extract is a weak reversible MAOI, harmine is a strong one.

I'm curious what you don't like about them so much that you feel they are just an "interference"? For me personally, harmalas and DMT go together incredibly well, and I never even bother taking DMT without a good dose of harmalas in some form or another. I take harmalas a lot on their own as well.

No, I don't like them or dislike them. This is just for future reference, as I would like to experiment with both types. I'm confused now, some people say that harmine and harmaline can be mildly psychedelic. Was I misinformed?

the body produces some of its own psychedelic metabolites. harmine and harmaline prevent them from being rapidly metabolized.

OK, just did some research. There are other MAOIs, and they're used for treating depression. Since you people have said that harmalas don't cause any problem while taking DMT, I think that I will have to look no further. I mean, hey, harmalas were, and are used by members here for years, they were using it, and are experienced more than I am. So, I'll just go with the flow.

Harmine and harmaline are definitely very psychedelic on their own in high doses, especially if you lay down in the dark. But you can also take them at doses that they wouldn't produce much in regards to psychedelic effects themselves, but would nevertheless still activate the DMT in your stomache to a large extent.
