Non toxic food safe extraction of mescaline using d-limonene (orange oil)

Migrated topic.
I have had bad luck with extractions myself. I have tried san pedro and torch both only yielding small amounts of HCL. I have also tried alcohol extrctions and normal tea. The most I have ever gotten was a euphoric feeling with very very mild visuals. I have visuals sober a lot so I can't really say it was from the mesc. I don't know what the problem is. I am thinking that it is probably the quality of my cactus.

So I decided I want to give this tek a try. My fiance hates all of the nasty chemicals I bring into the house for these extractions. I have ordered 5 gallons of d-limonene from green terpene. I am still waiting on my order and it has been almost two weeks since I have made the order. Anyone know how long they usually take.

Since I have had such bad luck with the cactus that I have been getting I would also like to try some cactus from a different source. If anyone knows a reputable source feel free to pm me. I have been wanting to get some cactus growing also, but when I get some to grow I want to be sure that it is what the vendor says it is, because I would be so pissed to grow inactive cacti for a while.

SWIM wants to recommend using drierite for drying out your mescaline acetate... SWIM is not sure what other alkaliods do in heat but boiling the cactus has allways been the traditional method so who knows...
at any rate swim is sure that drierite will do the trick in a real nice way...
method of sugestion is puting it in a the oven with the oven OFF in a cookie sheet underneath the pan with the vinegar solution in it...
drierite can be reused over and over again by dehydrating in the oven... great stuff for all kinds of purposes...
i beleive they have specific drierite that can be used with hydrocarbon based solvents... which could make things easier for us as well... but you will have to do some home work before you order for that... at the very least it can dry your ammonia washed spice much faster as well.
swim recomends the blue because it lets you know when its used up...
so yeah check it out... might be WAY better then a food dehydrator and cheaper too...

can the d-limoline be reused after its salted or is it only good for one pull?

SWIM ended up washing his post-salt limonene with distilled H2O and reusing with good results. SWIM tells me that this was done on the limonene used in the the third pull so how yield is affected is hard to tell as the cacti was starting to get depleted.

why not just buy limonene it is on ebay
I'm in the UK, I've tried to look around a bit but haven't been able to find a good source of food grade d-limonene :(

oh im sorry to hear that damn... i remember seeing posts earlier in the thread of people that lived in the uk that found some...

I am thinking that the quality of the citrus oil is sub par in comparison to the d-limonene...
it stands to reason that the people working with green terpene are having better results then those working with just citrus oil. In swims personal experience this has been the case... I recommend working with D-limonene if one can. SWIM is not sold on the citrus oil...

I'm wondering how accurate one would need to be measuring the Calcium Hydroxide. If one had shoddy scales and was off by a few grams in either direction, could this make a big difference to the process?

It will make a difference in the water needed. Just make sure it's wet but doesn't have lose drops of water. The cactus/calcium hydroxide mix should absorb all of the water and feel wet. If there's any lose water, too much water was used.

i dont think that would make a big difference one bit..but you may want to be a bit careful when dosing...because...mescaline can be quite intense

Get a good scale.

You don't want to accidentally ingest 500 mg of mescaline and go out to a party thinking you ingested a 100 mg "recreational" dose. SWIM is very experienced with psychedelics. While mescaline is one of the most friendly psychedelics in reasonable doses, a large dose can scare the crap out of person. It can be more intense than LSD in many ways. While LSD can cause tons of "mind fuck" and make you seem mentally impaired at high doses which some people call "intense", mescaline can give you a break through experience. You can literally see the entire universe come apart before your eyes and have a spiritual experience which words are incapable of describing. That's not something you want to experience at a party. Get a scale.

i started another extraction today will be the first ill be using a food dehydrator for the vinegar... i was contemplating how effective it would be to let the water dry out and crumble it too dust.. the other extracts iv done seemed like it was just clumps in the limonene that were kinda difficult to break up... do you think it still soaks into these clumps and drying the water would be unnecessary? was just wondering if it would work out better...

well its still not dry i was thinking i could lay the paste on some aluminum foil in my dehydrator dry it completely and then powder and mix on electric stir in limonene ... my thinking is this would provide maximum surface area... is there a reason i would not want to dry it (degradation?) or not use heat (was thinking ~120F) or am i wasting my time... it just seemed to me that the limonene wasnt penetrating the cactus... any ideas peoples?

at the moment its just sitting in a cup its gotten a bit thicker but nowhere near dry

Is using a filter a feasible way for removing traces of emulsion from the vinegar? SWIM's a victim of impatient pipetting and has little white salty looking traces in his vinegar.

i have never experienced an emulsion or white salty looking things???

yeah from what I hear I think it's just emulsion. SWIM sucked some out and left it to evaporate and it did with very little trace.

Definately got some funny business going down but yields are as expected so far.

well i still havent decided what im going to do i was thinking i could scoop it onto some aluminum foil and put in food dehydrator till completely dry and crumble to dust in some way then add limonene and set on electric stirrer... filter with buchner

i just wanted to see if i got better yeilds this way.. i was concerned about penetration... thoughts?

update-
welp layed it on some foil and poped in the easy bake at 95F think 125 would be alright?

re-update-
after an hour adjusted temperture to 125 been bout 30 mins may turn it off in abit and start it again in the mornin things loud
