Hello fellow Nexians!

After perusing this forum for the ideal extraction tek, I am undecided to which would prove most efficient and would result in the greatest yield for my recently obtained MHRB. If anyone could leave a suggestion, It would be greatly appreciated. Also, his has been my first post on the Nexus :)

If this is your first I would suggest Nomans, or maybe Q21Q21's tek. Those are easy for first timers and I get a pretty good yield everytime I use Nomans.

And Welcome to the nexus BTW. When you have time write an introduction so we can get to know you a little better.
I wish you the best of luck with whichever you choose. Anymore questions feel free to ask.

Welcome to the Nexus:)

If you can get all the various items/chemicals to use the BLAB tek, then I would suggest this as, IME, it gives the biggest yield, assuming your bark is of a decent quality.

Have a good read of the Wiki as its a priceless mine of info and there are numerous threads in the main body of the Nexus which can answer many questions you may have; none of the teks are particularly tricky to perform and Im certain theres many Nexians who can help with any unanswered queries which may crop up.

SWIM is currently in the middle of a first time extraction using Whatchamacallit's STB tek. It reportedly has very good yields, and I will be able to report back in a few days with the results. It is a very easy tek and the pictorial directions make it straight forward for beginners (available from Mycotopia.net-- sorry the link doesn't work because of keywords)

IMHO, yields are a lot less important than other factors-- particularly for first-time extractors. There is safety (are you comfortable with lye?), time (how long do you want to invest in the process?), equipment (do you like to DIY with some of the equipment?), and purity of the product (do you want product white as blown snow?). Most of the teks are good enough that yield is more determined by the quality of the bark.

For SWIM Whatchamacallit's tek works because he is ok with lye, doesn't want to spend much time, or buy/build equipment, and he's fine with slightly yellow spice. One modification that SWIM made to the tech is to scale it down to 1L batches, for which SWIM bought lab-quality leak-proof jugs (he was leery of shaking up lye in a milk container).

Best of luck! Extraction is fun!

I agree, for first timers deff look at safety first. also you probably don't want to spend alot of money to come out unsuccessful. Just look for a cheap, easy, SAFE method and once your comfortable with that go to a different Tek with a good yield

Thank you all for the prompt responses. I should have invested more effort and attention into my first post, though I am aware of other factors pertaining to these teks. I am leaning towards Q21Q21's tek using organic compounds... though I feel I am definitely not informed enough just yet to begin this or any others. I will be crawling the wiki and have been doing so on Erowid also, hopefully soon I can be posting some sort of a progress report or something along those lines haha.. :)

Q21Q21 is the way to go, man. I do plan to learn and become comfortable with other teks later, but this one has treated me really well so far. And it does result in a nice, clean product. I can't attest as to whether other teks would have gotten me better yields, but based on what is considered "average percentage" of content in bark, I'm definitely pulling "above average". And clean, at that.
