hello everyone, hope all is well

I will be going ahead with cybs tek with about 100g of MHRB instead of 50. i will just double the mixtures, that should be fine i hope. my question is, what is the ideal PH level of the mimosa soup before i mix in naphtha? some people have said to me it dosen't matter, but then i read other posts and people talk about the PH level. i would love to know what a good PH would be. also, i have these PH testing strips, these will work right?

thank you nexus.

PH 12 will be fine...or enough lye to make the mix go black/dark

Also for 100g around 1-1.2 litres will be fine. double the salt and keep the Naphtha similar
:)

cool thanks cyb. but what step would i add the extra water to? Acidifying, Salting, Basifying?

Acid soak for a long as you can...then add salt water, then lye (in water) then top up to 1 litre or so. Then warm up and soak for a while...then cool to room temp and add warm Nap...(some new stuff in there... ) the rest is easy...

Yeah on thicks thread, I'm for a write up of his guide.. He posted in there somewhere that he will write it all up in steps, still waiting on that.

Out of all the reading so far in the last couple of weeks, I think I almost have enough confidence to try my own extraction hehehe.

Any tips for a 1st try?

I plan to do it all by measurements and keeping my area as clean as possible.
Hoping to use around 250g of ACRB, some of the others in that thread are hitting over 2% yield, if for my first attempt I get 1 i'll be happy

I have one major question though, when acid washing material, once you filter it, what do you with the leftover wet bark?

I have found that with 100g bark that a half gallon ball jar works perfectly. If you can find one, simply use the volume markers on the side to keep track of the total volume. You can do the acid soak with as little as 500ml, then allow it to cool and defat by adding about 100-150ml of naphtha, agitate several times, allow to separate, then pull off the solvent. This solution is then ready to be basified and salted(if you haven't added the salt before the acid cook). Make a 200-250ml solution of base/salt, add this to the mix, then dilute to the appropriate volume. Let the base sit in the solution for a while before pulling to make sure it has time to equilibrate and deprotonate the DMT salt. Then just do your pulls.

another question i should ask, is himalayan salt ok to use in the salting step? if so, would coarse or fine salt work best?

i ask because i can not find any de-ionized salt. is it something you would find a health food store?

take care

Whether the salt is coarse or fine won't make any difference since you will dissolve it anyways. Himalayan salt contains impurities and other minerals besides NaCl, so no. Regular table salt will be perfectly fine. Just make sure that it is only sodium chloride, some salts are supplemented with iodine or fluoride and you want to avoid those.
