Dear Nexians,

For the past few months I have been working on a project that we have come to name "The Open Hyperspace Traveler Course". It is supposed to be a course, an introduction and a guide for anyone interested in psychedelics, with a focus on education concerning safety, responsability, facts and experience.

The idea came from the world of SCUBA diving, where a similar system of education is used and was in great deal responsible for changing diving from a very risky sport into a rather safe sport.

With this manual I/we hope to provide a basis to avoid all the preventable harm that (potential) psychedelics users otherwise might do to themselves (or others) - since I believe that a lot of the bad things that happen are due to ignorance and misinformation of the users, due to lacking education on this otherwise "taboo" topic.

With this course the reader is introduced into the various substances, their effects and possible risks, and is subsequently is lead through a plethora of considerations concerning heath, safety, possible benefit and responsability.

My vision of this text is:
- that it is as neutral and factual as possible.
- That it has NO propaganda pro or contra entheogens.
- That it does not discuss ontology or right or wrong interpretations of trips.
- That it encourages safety and preconsideration rather than recklessness
- ...

The basic text for the course manual is done but now it needs a bit of work, which is where hopefully you come in.

There are 5 chapters, each containing two or three sections. Then there is an introduction and an appendix, the latter is not entirely ready yet (Part of the appendix is still contained in Chapter 1 Section 1)

Please take a look at the text (attatched to this post) and at the following threads of this section concerning the help needed with this project.

This is awesome!

Very informative (and humorous at times).

Fun Stuff...
Myth: Measuring the brain waves on someone who is on LSD produces music that sounds like
"White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane. This is simply not true. It produces Pink Floyd's the Dark
Side of the Moon, but only if the person on LSD is watching the Wizard of Oz at the same time.

I have only read the 01_01_Hyperspace_005 chapter so far, but it looks to be very well done and informative.

The only suggestion I can come up with is to also include information on LSA and LSA containing plants in the tryptamine section. I did not see any mention of it, but I think it is a common enough substance and has enough history as a traditional entheogen to be included.

Looks like this will be a very valuable resource.

Added the full version to the files above - this means from Introduction to the end of part 5. The full version has changed format a bit since I have now switched to LaTeX. I've tried to integrate the new visual images, but a lot of them still are copyrighted and need to be changed.

The new version includes quotes for every chapter and references (though a few more can't harm). The introduction is the new version with edits/suggestions by Vodsel and Entropymancer.

if you see things like ?? in the text, those are unresolved referneces. Either I screwed up or the file doesn't exist yet (like the appendices). Would be nice if you could tell me where you found them if you do...

I'll get to adding the appendices now.

The appendices will be as follows:

A) substance index (with tables if available) - a short description of each classical entheogen in alphabetical order, category, mode of ingestion and effective doses. I still need help with this. Each substance should not have more than two paragraphs.

B) First Aid Reference (I will port this to latex)

C) Movies and Documentaries with psychedelic reference

D) Index of images and their authors, licenses

E) Bibliography

The final document will have around 160 pages I assume.
Did I forget anything?

OHT_Fulltext_alpha.pdf has been added to the first post. It's the full version including the appendix and all the current authors etc.

There are still a bunch of grammar and spelling mistakes and the likes, but now has come the time to proof-read and find them. Anyone up for it, please check out the Proof-Read thread.

I think I managed to change all the images to free versions. If you have any doubts about an image, please let me know, since this is an important issue. If I have credited anyone wrongly or have forgotten to credit someone, I apologize. Please let me know so I can fix it.

The logo for the entheogenic university is provisional - until we decide on which one to use for real.

The first aid manual will be kept separate from the manual, as I feel otherwise the manual will become too long. This way also people can download the first aid manual without the OHT. I will port it into Latex to follow the same style as the OHT course, but all in due time.

Awesome Enoon! I will give it a thorough read and comment on it in the appropriate threads.

Kind regards,

The Traveler
