I am very much new to DMT but experienced with other psychedelics; however, I care a great deal about my lungs and respiratory health due to pre-existing conditions and as such am not partial to smoking/vaping.
As such, I have a couple questions about the ayahuasca brew. So far, all I've seen is that I need to brew the tea with just the mimosa root bark, distilled water, vinegar, and nothing of the solvents or other ingredients I'm seeing in vape-able extraction techniques. Does this hold true? I also want to know how similar the experience is to smoked DMT, which is what I hear about the most. Looking through old forums, I'm seeing that without a MOAI, the dose needed for effects is upwards of 25 grams. I've been getting most of my information from the "all about aya" thread. Please let me know if there is anything I'm missing or need to know before hand. Thank you all very much!

Yes. You could extract DMT and use it instead of a full-spectrum tea, but it's not necessary.

It's hard to compare. Definitely a "slower" experience, things don't happen at the breakneck speed of vaporized DMT. It can be just as immersive at a high enough dose (don't start with high doses, work your way up), and it has a tendency to produce experiences with more personal meaning. With vaporized DMT it can often feel like you're witnessing something that bears no relationship whatsoever to you.

I would note that pharmahuasca using extracted DMT and extracted harmalas feels much closer to smoked DMT than a plant brew. IME plant brews are usually less abrupt in the onset of effects, last for a longer time in a more sustained way, and tend to feel more dreamlike. Different plants feel different too, and there are quite a few combinations available.

Careful, different MAOIs require very different doses. 25g could work for caapi if the batch is very strong, although it's more common to need 50g or more. Syrian rue needs from 3g onwards, if you were to take 25g rue you would be putting yourself potentially at risk. And a good dose of extracted harmala alkaloids is usually around 200mg. So it's very important to make sure you're calculating your dose based on the MAOI of your choice, and not an unrelated one.

If you have time, I'd recommend you to start first with MAOI-only doses, to see how you react to it and be able to better estimate the dose you need. I would recommend about 2.5g MHRB or so for the first time. IMO the best way is to start low and work your doses up until you find your sweet spot.
