A friendly PSA to the ayahuasqueros: don't go for the second wash of your plant material. and god forbid you do a third.

I know some people like to cook their brew, do a second wash, then blend the two and further reduce it. My last five journeys were with a pure 2nd wash brew and they were all remarkably dull and ill-inducing.

During my last session, I went for two rounds of the second wash batch, suffering from moans of oblivion. Then I was struck by an idea from the icaro heavens: I should try a pure first wash brew. So for the third round I took a pure chacruna potion and it was absolutely incredible- medicine to save me from the bad medicine. The clarity, the fullness, the joviality. Shakti returned with flying colors. Oh how good it is to be alive. This is the medicine I know and love.

so save your fuel and stop poisoning your guests. The spirit of the plant in its wholeness deserves to be cooked once (and only once).

Yeah, you're supposed to mix all the washes and reduce the tea. Sure enough, if you isolate them, you'd likely get a dud from the second one on.
I usually cook aya three times, but I just add water to the same pot. It couldn't be simpler. What guests, by the way?
It's okay to drink it yourself, but serving aya to others without any extensive experience is just pure malpractice.

What I'm suggesting is to skip the second/third wash entirely though. It's quite a foggy experience standalone, so why contribute that to the final brew? I don't think it's worth squeezing out any extra DMT/beta-carbolines. There seems to be some other funky alkaloids coming out from the extended brew times.

Like the first pluck of the finest teas, the first wash is fully suffused with the essence of Spring 🌱

Yes and no. You do all these extra washes mostly for potency. If you can cook it in one go, just do it.
There are no shady alkaloids in there. It's just that if you don't drink the first wash, you're missing out on all the magic.
Cook it like I do in one go. They do the same in the Amazon. I cook it three times only because I use an electric stove.
I never remove the vine and just add water. After lots of experiments, this style brings the most consistent results.

Yes, it boils down to cooking time and not so much number of washes, if enough water is used.
