So I went to pick up some free O. compressa pads and seed for peyote and ariocarpus grafting [for those not familiar, read here and here] and while there I picked up a few dry Opuntia polyacantha fruits that would otherwise go to waste.
My question is, is O. polyacantha useful for anything that O. compressa [syn. O. humifusa] or O. engelmanii cant do as good or better? O. polyacantha is a horrible ball of spines and glochids but I picked up some fruit because I thought there might be a chance it could promote scion flowering even more than O. compressa. I may also attempt hypocotyl grafting to give peyote and ariocarpus rot-resistant wet-cold-proof taproots.
