Does A/B increase yield that much?? compared to STB?
Or is A/B better due to not having to have to use as much NaOH therefor working with lower pHs?
Yes, ...... swim has always had much better yeilds, of much cleaner, and even against logic, higher "quality" spice from ab's.
Control experiments have been done side by side with the only variable being an acid phase (1.5 hr steep in ph 4 acidified water) vs. the same - minus the acid phase, a 1.5 hour steep in hot basic h20 substituted.
Extractions continued per norm.... yeild and quality was better with the acid worked bark. It has proven this time and time again.
Also swim has performed literrally dozens of tests regarding ph conditions and its effects on yeild and quality and no changes were noted in either yeild or quality regardless of the time the alkaloids were exposed to these conditions. (*" except for a gallon of only half exhausted soup (highly basic, above 13) covered in di-ethyl ether that swim once misplaced. It was found over about 2 years later and swim removed the ether and attempted freeze precipitation... it yeilded gooey looking shit so it was combined back with the rest of the solvent and it was all left to evap... it left horribly gooey greasey looking shit. Swim cleaned it up, leaving off white/yellowish powder and smoked it... it resembled homemade dmt-n-oxide in all respects, especially the fact that it was for the most part insoluble in naptha, except for a good portion of the gooey material.
Swim once mixed up 300 gr powdered mhrb in ph 13.6 (with naoh) and allowed to sit for 90 days..(solvent was added on day 45)allowed to sit another 45 day for 90 total. Extracted... result was thick orange colored oil that smelled strongly of spice. This material would not harden or crystallize in any manner . Weight was astrnomical... somewhere up in the 12 gram range ....
After cleaning ... the spice was stained irretrevably yellow no matter how many cleaning procedurs were used ... even back extracting into acidic water left the reulting spice yellow/orange. Final weight of cleaned /refined spice from this good was 2.8 grams.....
this is just a good example of what happens with stb teks.. all the fat and cellulosic material comes out with the goodies...
essentially with an a/b .. most of that crap is left locked in the bark material and the alkaloids are extracted out. With stb's you have to get the alk's quickly or else oils start migrating over in mass. Having to do that so quckly often times leaves behind a good deal of alaloids.
I wont even get into how much cleaner and prettier a/b crystals are over stb xtals are. Peace.
