There’s a very interesting thread in the “Philosophy/Spirituality/Science” subforum called [post=115898] Spirituality of the Nexus![/post]. I can’t post there yet, but if I could  , here’s what I’d say:

Our beliefs are shaped by our experiences, and all we have is our experiences.

The only “truth” I can be certain of is that “I” have conscious sensations/experiences. These conscious sensations, because of their persistence, consistency, and mathematical precision, lead me to believe that I currently exist as a physical being in a physical world.

But I have no proof of this. Everything we think we know, everything we think is true, everything we think is proven, is merely believed. We cannot truly prove anything beyond our subjective experience.

There are possibly unintended consequences of this line of thought. For example, if everything that exists only begins to exist once it intersects with the subject's perception, the subject's perception of consensus reality's history can never be a fixed quantity. Not necessarily a bad thing.

Promotions all around!

I’m not making any claims about what exists or doesn’t, or what brings things into existence, etc. My point was that we can’t really prove very much about existence, including that part of existence that we consider to be “reality”.

So what is the “true” nature of existence? Who knows…

Rene Descartes went into his favorite bar and the bar tender asked, "would you like your usual drink, Monsieur Descartes? " Descartes replied "I think not" and promptly disappeared.

Hey Gibran 2! I agree with you entirely. But I suspect that other beings such as yourself and the material world are real, because I don't seem to get my own way at all often enough. But I suppose it could just be that, despite being the only one here, I'm a masochist. Perhaps this culd be the case, because I don't get my own way in my dreams either. Although I do get laid more often in them... ;)

P.s. I like your joke OriginalFace!

enlightenment through experience. I very much like your philosophy gibran, we are beings recieving physical input through much of our consciousness, and at the same moment we are endless spirit with all possibilities and prototypes innate. at least in this mind : )

The physical is real but the other realms/parralell universes are also real. We co-exist in all dimensions constantly, we jsut have to awaken our light bodies. modern science is also wrong, its only right based on the materialistic perception of western culture, science is limited to the scientists perception.

I like to think of reality on earth as what Windows,98,me,xp,vista is to the computer. And when we take psychedelics it takes us out of that"program" and either lets us see the mainsetup screen or puts us int the infiinite possbilities of Dos mode.

Humans are just transmitters that are able to decipher earthly signals for our spirit to understand, we are in the control room in the brain.

Sounds a lot like McKenna.

I would say,

What is real is real, what is true is true and what exists exists, but our preception is clouded by our societal impacts. Thus, nothing we experience is really what REALITY is...

...at least at this point of our evolution.

Very well said!! I think for all materialist dumb people; they jsut wanna have something with definit results and tested ways of lives that are easier than the psychedelic paradyme of mystery and trial and error as shamans do.

That reminds me of the quote:

"Looking for consciousness in the brain is like looking inside a radio for the announcer" - Nassim Haramein
