Phlux's Mescaline Extraction Tek

Migrated topic.
mesc tastes very bitter.
and color moving is no indication - often my salting waters look no different.

Bitterness is there he said, just also has a saltiness...
Any idea how to clean out the anhydrous magnesium sulphate? He was thinking water but both are soluble in it.

in some thick triches i notice granules of white that taste salty if you collect them scattered throughout a cross section

anyway the real question is

what did you mean by 2-3 acetate washes, mek wash?

is that one or the other, or acetate then mek?

also if the acetate wash is necessary please explain how to do so
swim was only going to re ex with mek after the citrate is collected

can a swimmer reduce the xylene into the freebase oil to potentially vaporize an amount for psychedelic effects?
perhaps it too needs cleaning with acetone or MEK

has anyone tried or heard of this before>><?

the freebase is preddy caustic - i think it would hurt u if u tried to do that.
the freebase converts to mescaline carbonate on exposure to air - im not sure how fast - but i doubt it would stay freebase for long in an open environment.

you could but then you would be performing a different tek.
best by far is sodium hydroxide as the base and hcl as the final product.

SWIM's accidentally freebased some mescaline HCl one time, heating over 100C does it quickly.

When left to air it goes brown and gooey (hygroscopic) in less than 5 minutes.

swim wonders how long the xylene can left with the basified tea in glass before it renders alkaloids inactive

Thanks Phlux:d .

swim was waiting for your pictorial but thought he'd just plod on without it.

There was a little fiddly diddly on the measurements since he was only using 100g torch
but things seem to have worked out well.

So first evap of 4 combined hcl water pulls 120ml has yielded 490mg of off white (hopefully)
mescalito.

swim shall be testing it out tonight.

my hats off to you sir 8)

peace

ooft.. You lucky lucky man!

Lettuce know how you get on matey.

Soon!

Phlux, SWIM too has had minimal success at extracting using other teks so he looks forward to trying this one out soon, however the starting material will be in the form of dried strips/chips. SWIM is assuming that there is no need to grind/powder the strips prior to heating in the acidic solution but he is curious about what reduction volume to aim for per amount of dried material. SWIM appreciates any advice and thanks already for all the helpful posts!

I've just started this tek with 250g of dried cactus chips and 1.5 litres of distilled water for the 1st brew. After 30 mins of simmering the tea is more like a soup and somewhat slimy. I am documenting this procedure as I go along.

It will be quite slimy in the beginning - the sliminess will subside after a couple of hours of shimmering.

swim started with 100g dry whole chips and 1 ltr of water squeezed half a lemon,
2 hour simmer(topped water up if needed).
pour off liquid add another ltr water squeez half lemon, simmer 1 hour,

here swim poured off the tea and put the pot straight in the freezer for 24 hours.

then boiled 500 ml water and added to frozen chips brought to a simmer for a further hour.
no lemon added.

ended up with 400ml of tea wtich was further reduced to 200 ml before baseification

Yes, after a while it became less gooey. I did a total of 4 brews. Here's the result so far. Gonna let this sit for tonight and decant and extract tomorrow!

First from left...

First brew 1hr
Second brew 2hrs
Third brew 4hrs
Fourth brew + food blender 2hrs

I certainly wouldn't powder the material. It will just make removing the solid particles from the tea a long and frustrating progress. It's pretty easy to exaust the cactus with a few long simmers.

I don't think the reduction volume matters too much, as long as it's a managable amount. 500ml is probably a good rough guide.
