Bitterness is there he said, just also has a saltiness...Phlux- said:mesc tastes very bitter.
and color moving is no indication - often my salting waters look no different.
Phlux- said:the freebase is preddy caustic - i think it would hurt u if u tried to do that.
the freebase converts to mescaline carbonate on exposure to air - im not sure how fast - but i doubt it would stay freebase for long in an open environment.

swim was waiting for your pictorial but thought he'd just plod on without it.
There was a little fiddly diddly on the measurements since he was only using 100g torch
but things seem to have worked out well.
So first evap of 4 combined hcl water pulls 120ml has yielded 490mg of off white (hopefully)
mescalito.
swim shall be testing it out tonight.
my hats off to you sir 8)
peace
It will be quite slimy in the beginning - the sliminess will subside after a couple of hours of shimmering.darkstate said:I've just started this tek with 250g of dried cactus chips and 1.5 litres of distilled water for the 1st brew. After 30 mins of simmering the tea is more like a soup and somewhat slimy. I am documenting this procedure as I go along.
Mill said:Phlux, SWIM too has had minimal success at extracting using other teks so he looks forward to trying this one out soon, however the starting material will be in the form of dried strips/chips. SWIM is assuming that there is no need to grind/powder the strips prior to heating in the acidic solution but he is curious about what reduction volume to aim for per amount of dried material. SWIM appreciates any advice and thanks already for all the helpful posts!
