Heyhey everybody. Just a quickie. Has anybody had any success with common reed? Should i attempt extraction from roots OR flowers (those things -.-)?
I ask because i have loads of the plant around my area. I could literally get ANY amount of the plant.
Thanks!
the alkaloids are in the roots, but check your botanical id...people have mistaken Arundo and Paspallum spp. for it.
also, botanists class it as the same species wherever it grows in the world, but it would almost certainly have regional (e.g. India vs USA) differences in alkaloid content, so if one stand doesn't check out dont give up...
Phragmites is kind of classed as "native" to every continent except antarctica...this may well change with detailed taxonomic revision.
I know this. Dmt is actually present in flowers too. I am absolutely sure it is Phragmites. And a lot of it. Im also aware that when the plant is dormant there are very little to no alkaloids present at all (probably oxides?). I want more responses with You should/you shouldnt try extracting.
i hope i haven't insulted your breadth of knowledge, & thanlks for increasing mine.
...to my knowledge there are no indepth descriptions of Phragmites extract experiences,
so probably only You can make a moral judgement based on should/shouldn't,
that's what "test pilots" do,
may the force be with you...
Thanks, thats the spirit!
I could use:
ATB (and deoxydise dmt oxides with Zn in acidic solution)
STB (prefered but i suspect many oxides in that plant)
STS (straight to solvent. Chop, add solvent that does pull oxides and soak for two years, lol. Then evap and maybe purify)
