Please help me understand what im doing wrong

I have been trying to extract dmt from root bark using this method

. this methos is supposed to give me 1-2 % yield but i barely get anything . im still really new to all this so i dont really have a clue what im doing . for this extraction i used about 100 g root bark , 75 g caustic soda roughly 700 ml Deionised water and 200 ml nafta . i did this with regual tap water as well and has same results .

Hi , the only time I get a empty dish like that is on the fourth or fifth extraction when I've exhausted
all the DMT in the solution?.
The guy in videos technique is a little crude but ok, that's generally how it's done .
Doesn't matter what water used , can be done hot or cold ,
if it went black after soda added, then PH is probably ok.
if you adjitated it enough after adding nafta then that should be ok .

So that leaves me to think it could be your root bark? 100g is not much but should of at least gave .5 - 1 g
over a couple extractions.
I've never had a problem with root bark but there is always a first.

What kind of root bark? That looks kind of like acacia goo to me on some spots. You also used a big dish. I think if you scrape that with a razer blade, you'll have more than you think so it wasn't a total loss. Wouldn't surpise me if you have 1g there. You'll get more upwards crystal growth if you freeze precipitate it as those look like evap crystals to me.

i used memosa hostilis root bark that i got [MOD EDIT: NO SOURCING!]

You should first heat/boil with vinegar for a few hours and then add the NaOH to the filtered solution.

Yes I missed that bit in the video , that could be it? , I always put mine in the freezer.

In the end either freezing or drying shouldn’t affect your end yield I would think. The DMT that is there is going to be there either way. It can affect the form though. If you have more bark, try following the max ion tek. I’ve had good luck with that process. You’ll learn more as you get some experience under your belt.

Have you scraped that residue and weighed it? It could be more than it looks like. That kind of waxy form is much more dense than fluffy white crystals. So I think your yield is almost for sure acceptable.

White wine vinegar, distilled vinegar. Add to water to bring PH down to 4 ish and heat , not boil , simmer for a hour , cool then add caustic soda to push PH up to 12-14 .

You get more Crystals when using heating technique , but will be more yellow - ivory .
That's how I do it .

Distilled vinegar is best it's clear not malt , get at supermarket

I personally simmer for 3 hours. Remember to use a lid as you don't want the water to evaporate.

Go for the distilled stuff, especially if you can get hold of a concentrate - the weaker stuff ( 3 to 5 % acidity) often contains sulfite as a preservative.

often harware stores have cleaning distilled vinehgar that is 7% to 10 %.

also many %5 ones can be found with no sulfates at a grocery store
