Pondering

Migrated topic.
Hi elru,

Thank you for your caring nature.

It's appalling the cost of these foreign wars here at home, from limb loss to other disability to PTSD to . . . :(.

I would encourage him to apply aggressively for any/all studies that he might be interested in as soon as possible. Can't hurt to try. Worst that will happen is he will receive a politely worded refusal letter. He already knows there's no instant cure, so that shouldn't take all the winds out of his sails if it were to happen. At least I hope.

Regarding your providing a session in nature. You know I'm kind of older and more conservative. I cannot help but advise extreme caution here. Your lack of training in this area is of concern to me. PTSD work can be unpredictable. Flashbacks can be sketch, to say the least.

Regardless of what you choose, I know it will be done with forethought and caring. It will most likely be a good thing.

Peace & Love

I have to say I agree with everything Pandora said. It's unfortunate that the more hurt the person is, the more unlikely we are to try something unorthodox in the name of helping them, when in fact they are the ones who need help the most.

If you decide to do this on your own; I might suggest to observe his behavior in a considerate way. Ask questions if you find there are concerns. Do everything you can to be prepared and have conviction--likewise to a greater extent for your friend. I feel as long as you are doing all your actions out of love and consideration, that your chances of a positive effect can be increased substantially. It's still a risk, like Pandora said, but I think we also need to be a cowboy from time to time. I am not saying yay or nay because I can't say I've had a formal education that many might feel is important, but I can tell you that these are my genuine thoughts on it.

Trust your gut, intuition, and/or heart. Whatever you wanna call it :)

As a PTSD recoveree(?), I send much love and hope to you and your friend :)
