problems evapping

Essentially I've run into an issue at the very end of the STB tek that I've been using. Everything has worked well, including the precip. However, when it comes time to evaporate the crystals and dry them, I run into this issue: they melt.(I've already considered them being ice crystals; just from the looks of them melting, their formations, and other discrepancies, I can honestly say that they are spice formations)

I've attempted this tek multiple times in the past, all with great success. However, could a combination of heat and humidity create condensation on the pyrex, which then acts as a mild solvent and melts the crystals? It's just been a hassle, and I've done six precips so far. all with the same result at the end.

try my method it works for me

Ive found that when freeze preciping in a mason jar after it snows ,keep the jar as still as you can and decant most of the naptha off leaving crystals and a small amount of solvent.tThen I take a sheet of glass about the size of a sheet of paper or larger and pour the crystals and remaining solvent onto the sheet of glass and let it evap there and scrape up when all is dry. Also some spice will stick to the bottom and sides of the jar,use some of the decanted naptha to wash/scrape the sides of the jar and pour that onto the sheet of glass to recover all the spice....

Also Ive found that once the spice and naptha are poured onto the sheet that you can tilt the glass slightly and just the solvent will roll off the glass and can be collected. here is a pic.

Hey,
LAte response, I know, but thank you for the advice. The conclusion that I eventually came to was that, essentially, it was too humid at the time of the precip. Too much water collected on the inside of the dish, which dissolved the spice, leaving behind little more than oily residuals.
