I totally agree regarding this thread. It's amazing. Just skimming through the pictures and people's responses has improved my understanding of how meaningful and how personal a tattoo can be. I don't have any tats myself. Maybe one day...
This is what I spent all day working on... this kind of freeform organic stuff is what people usually ask me for. This took two sessions. Inspired by coral.
My newest addition. Truely psychedelic. Perfect in its symbolisim and simplicity.
Olympus mon my brother, Once again I asked you to tattoo me. I gave you no design, I trusted you, and once again you placed upon me an almost perfect representation of who I am. I wear it with pride.
I am greatful. I cant find the words to truely express the gratitude I feel for the artwork you have bestowed upon me. Thank you will have to do. I find it perfect in every way.
cool thread!! it always amazes me how mind blowingly skilled and creative some of you are
oly- in the third picture from the bottom, do you know what cultures make art like that red/black designs on the outter part? I've seen it before but i've never known what it was
icehouse: love it brother! i've never really been into the fungi until recently but now i'm being called like crazy. i've already got 2 mushroom tattoos...might be about time for a 3rd.
oly mon: love seeing what you crank out bro.love that lady face with the owl and elephant underneath sleeve. dope shit bro!
gonna start my ribs soon...well, at least one rib. no idea exactly what it's gonna be but i know it's gonna be an alien of some sorts. gonna use the artist who did my owl. he loves (and is known for) tattooing aliens.
Oly- great to see you finishing up so much big work... really great range of different cultural graphic styles that you've got in your palette!
Here's a second pass on a fractal spiral tattoo I started about 6 months ago. This was the fun session, since it was already completely laid out and ready to dial in. So I ate a sugar cube halfway through the evening, which made for some really fun perspectives while working out the shading. This is a coverup, and will probably need a final session after it settles.
