Quest for most potent cactus - from seeds with help of pereskiopsis grafting

Migrated topic.
No, that was different hybrid. This one was much more bitter!
I have few packs of Scop x Huar waiting for next winter, unfortunatelly it was not available this summer.

Just a shot of current state. 3 sections out of 6.

Likely. There is a plenty of light, but the tops have to be kept near the tubes anyway. Those polystyrene boards and classification by size into trays helps to remedy this problem.

I guess I will keep about 2-4 specimens from these 480 grafts. But yes, they will be multiplied to cover my needs :)
But question is what brings next season, maybe there will be better specimens and the older ones will be discarded.

Thats an ambitious project Pete. Best luck with achieving your goals. I'm sure there are many people who would gladly take your discards.

Next valuable experience ... grafting onto fully rooted, many months grown peres is giving MUCH better results than grafting onto lightly rooted rootstock. The grafts are growing up to 5 times faster.
The root mass seems to be essential. It seems the weakly rooted rootstock is not going to reach the same strenght as the fully rooted one. Even after months...

Fertilization :

I am using 4 configurations with tenso coctail and fertilizer ((20:7:20:3:7) (N : P : K : Mg : S) + (B, Mo, Fe, Cu, Mn, Zn))

per 10L, TDS of entry water is 134 :

1/8 : 15mg tenso + 625mg fertilizer (seedlings, first waterings when soil is still rich) - TDS 173
1/4 : 31mg tenso + 1,25g fertilizer (smaller to middle grafts) - TDS 212
1/2 : 62mg tenso + 2,5g fertilizer (regular for bigger grafts) - TDS 290
1 : 125mg tenso + 5g fertilizer (once or twice after flush) - TDS 447

as stated before, I am bottom watering, with water flushes once a month
soil is just hq compost
the plants are talking through feelings, sometimes I skip fertilization and use just water or lower configuration as they wish

and the most important ... I humbly ask for success

Are you really going to keep just a handful of your cacti? Why not keep the 50 best and grow them out as big as you can? I bet you wouldnt regret it.

My place where I can grow them is limited, so I need them to be as potent as possible. Therefore only the best will be selected and grown.

Absolutely love your growing style my friend. Your growing methods speak volumes for themself.

And why would you want to grow 500 weak cacti when you can grow the top 2-3 out of that 500? I'd have to agree in that I'd much rather see those 2-3 top contenders multiplied 500 times. It really is a no brainer if your goal is so clearly defined. 8)

A freind of mine claims to have aquired a young San Pedro cacti that has up to %13 mescaline. not sure if he's right or if that is even possible with trichocereus but I will definitely test it when he grows it bigger.
