Question about CIELO Tek and Bridgesii

Hi all - I have some Bridgesii and was prepared to use the CIELO Tek for extraction, then I saw the note in the tek about how some folks have gotten transparent product on the walls of their jars instead of crystals. Does anyone know if this is a common issue? I know the product in those cases is still active, but I wouldn't know how to accurately dose it, and accurate dosing is the main reason Im choosing to extract crystals. Im wondering if I should choose a different tek, or if this is an common issue and if most others have had success. Im experienced with deems extraction but first time extracting from cacti. Thank you!

Hello and welcome, new person!

Most of the issues around CIELO appear to have been related to the moisture content of the EA around the time of citric acid addition for mesc citrate precipitation. There are various ways of addressing this, all of them discussed in the CIELO thread, and the important ones also are included in the wiki page. All the other cactus extraction methods come with their own set of problems which tends to make them trickier than CIELO. Some of them are better than others, and availability of materials may influence the final choice of protocol for some extractors.

Prior to CIELO, Kash's A/B was considered the go-to. That link puts you through to the results of a search of the term.

Kash's original thread is towards the bottom of the list, just in case you wanted a comparison:

Oh, and I did try the 69ron limetek with limonene, it was sort of OK-ish but also a bit of a pain.

Thanks, I'll stick with CIELO and see how it goes. Much appreciated!
I've had issues with CIELO but it is due to excess water and not having sealable jars for the fridge step.

Personally I prefer Kash as it is much easier IME and you can also extract the non-mescaline salts by dropping the pH more than necessary. As far as saftey you do need to be a bit more careful since you are using caustic soda and hcl. As for the xylene as long as you are in ventilated area it is the same as ethyl acetate as far as toxicity. Cielo is more "food safe" but I could just never get it to work; always requiring a salt brine wash. Again because of excess water.

Damn so I could have been resalting and pulling some of the other alkaloids present in the Cacti once I pulled the mescaline.... don't know why I never considered this when extracting..... I'll be keeping this in mind next extract I pull.

I'm also very fond of Kash's AB, I've been reading over the Cielo Tek and just doesn't seen as straight forward as Kash's AB.

Glad I'm not the only one still using Kashs AB. I've had super great success with this tek and the mescaline pulled is absolutely amazing. Very clean profile and everyone that's tried it agrees with me.

I think the appeal of CIELO lies in getting nice, pure crystals directly and "effortlessly" from the solvent pulls - when you get the method up to that point just right.

This doesn't mean that anyone should go absolutely out of their way to track down ethyl acetate, lime and citric acid if they already have lye, xylene, mineral acids, acetone and MEK in their store cupboard (but you may want to compare those two lists once more).
