Question about Easy Caapi Vine Alkaloid Extraction

Hi to everyone again ,

I am extracting harmalas from caapi using this tech and want to ask simple question.

Do i need to really do Acidification to remove insoluble impurities when the liquid is clear ?

I filtered the brew before i started to reduce the liquid. so the worsted impurities were already removed. Look at the attached pictures to see how it was after one wash and the second one after 3 washes. I will do one more wash and i just wanted to jump strait to removing the haramals and drying it. I also want to add that I always waited 12 plus hours for harmalas to settle down.

Thank you

There are still some impurities precipitated together with alkaline harmalas - you can separate these impurities after acidification by filtering.

But it's not absolutely necessary, your product is reasonably pure and you can still use it as it is.

thank you for your opinion

You will see faster cleaning the bigger the volume of liquid you are using to decant the freebase. Properly decanting the freebase is enough to get a very pure product: Harmala extraction - unneccessary steps?
You can avoid doing the manske because the precipitants lack stuff you wouldn't want like vasicine or vasicinone (I think that is the point of BW's post). But you can also get rid of a lot of that dark brown stuff by successive acidfilterbasicdecant steps.

My darker extracts are not as potent as the light tan and white stuff.

I don't know if that's the point, if you look at the analysis in that thread it's basically pure

What I've seen is that by decanting in a large volume (think 10L) four or five times (until the water is clear) you get a very clear result that seems to be as potent as the pinkish white one. This doesn't seem possible to achieve by decanting in a smaller jar (1L), and that dark result in the second case does seem to contain impurities.

Its done , i just did another wash and then took as much liquid out as possible. Then put it on glass dish and on the stove to dry on very low heat. Its done. No needed any acidification again.I got half gram of harmalas from 16 years old caapi 😉 not bad
