Question on making changa

Hey so I have some dmt that was gifted to me by a friend and I want to turn it into changa.
The dmt is a darkish Brown colour, very harsh to smoke even when vaporised properly.

Do you think it's worth doing a recrystallisation before converting to changa? Or will it not make much difference? Cheers.

My mate gave it to me because he was too scared to use it and moved state haha. Bought from a dodgey source though, hence the bad crystals...

Be careful regarding sourcing talk. Not allowed on the forum. Brown DMT is definitely worth cleaning up and extracting yourself helps ensure you know what your getting.

I agree,
I would re dissolve it in warm naphtha, pipette the naphtha off, leaving the gunk at the bottom in the shot glass and do a sodium carbonate wash on the naphtha to get rid of any possible lye contamination, then pipette off your naphtha, evaporate to saturation and freeze precipitate, then recrystallize before smoking any "free" dmt.
It might be overkill, but it might all be necessary if it's that harsh with proper vaporization.
Just what I would do.

Planning on doing a heptane recrystallisation with charcoal. Just following the nexus handbook.
I'm assuming that would get rid of any lye in the process, correct me if I'm wrong

The activated charcoal will only remove the coloured impurities, but that is a good idea too.
To remove lye you must do a sodium carbonate wash. Lye can make I through a re-x.
It may not have any lye in it at all, but since you didn't extract it, you can't know for sure.
Knowing that your spice is safe and clean will do wonders for your headspace when blasting off.
The last thing you want is to be thinking "is this safe, am I poisoned?" when you are tripping hard.

Like I said, that is what I would do to be absolutely sure.
It will also make dosing easier when you have a pure product.
