Questions about Cybs tek

Hey everyone,

So I did my first extraction following cybs tek using acacia confusa. I used 40g of root bark and 10g of trunk bark. I follow the times and measurements except that I only had 1 dish so I did one pull per day 4 times. In the end I ended up with about 120mg of darkish goo. I put the goo in a gvg on parsley but it had no effect. Then I took the rest of the goo, and about half of it dissolved into naptha which I set to freeze precipitate. When I pulled it out of the freezer there looked like a decent amount of xtals but they all evapped away.

Anyone know what the problem could be? I've never had an experience with the molecule before and this was a very discouraging experience

Could you clarify what you mean by this?

The tek calls for each pull to be mixed/let to separate 4x...then siphoned off and freeze precipitated.

You can of course put all your pulls in the same dish...but it is advisable to fan evap the total amount of naphtha down considerably to further concentrate the saturation...then freeze the result in one dish.

The 'disappearing xtal' syndrome has been noted a few times here as well as only getting goo.

It should be noted that not all ACRB is actually what they say it is and has the possibility of being either bunk or very low in active alkaloids.

Perhaps you could try a small amount of warm naphtha or heptane (say 30-50 ml) to dissolve 'all' your goo and remaining xtals in the same dish as you froze...That way you can be sure you are freeze precipitating all your available goodies.

Basically doing a Re-X on everything you have.

Hopefully the xtals will stay stable...once the solvent is poured off...return to the freezer straight away (upside down) so that they can't dissolve a higher temperatures...Once all the solvent is visibly drained...fan dry with haste and see what remains.

..i suspect some of this purported ACRB is actually from the wrong species..
true A. confusa should be consistent..based on numerous (incl. published) tests on confirmed material..

the 'disappearing goo' phenomenon is known from some other acacias (e.g. melanoxylon) which usually don't have any or much DMT..these species could easily be mistaken by the inexperienced for confusa..

basically, suppliers accessing Hawaii need to get it together, and check the ID skills of their sources..

i think people should note 'bunk' supplies in the suppliers' section

It does seem like it's becoming common place and not only in Hawaii. :?

A bunk Acacia thread maybe the way to go...if it falls within the accepted rules of the site.

Thanks for the responses guys and I think a bunk thread would be invaluable, if that's the reason why that's a decent amount down the drain.

But in response to what I meant, I did the 4x shake and decanted the saturated naptha into one dish because I only have one to put the naptha into. Then when that was done and scraped clean I added back the 50ml naptha and repeated the shakes and separation and put that into the dish the following day.
