It looks like the angles between the ribs become less prononced and more broad on the older parts of the stem-- a distinct characteristic of a bridgesii. Also the number of spines on each aereole indicates bridesii. It's difficult to see, but it looks like the felt on the aereoles is light grey-brown in color which is a characteristic of a bridgesii. The low rib count (5) and rather narrow stem thickness are both characteristics of a bridgesii. IME torches are much thicker and usually have 7-9 ribs.

It looks to me like you've got a bridgesoid.

ok well this is intresting guys . . .

so if i boil it up ,and drink the water , i could be having myself a good evening , is that what your saying in simple terms?
Dont worry i'm not as ignorant as that question sounds ,just putting it simply.

And what do you mean is it an orphan? 'cause it does have an owner ,in the sense that its growing on someones pavement , but i think its only there cause theres its "big brother" a few meters away made it so . . .and its going to waste if I dont make use , right? hehe

Well i think its there by mistake , and its in a little sub division that never gets looked at or looked after . i do feel a bit bad, but i dont think theyd even notice. it might as well be a weed to them

Well i cut just under four kilograms of the stuff , took over the spines , cut it up , and boiled it for 45 minutes , squeezed the liquid out and now have just under two litres. so i think I'll be splitting it with a friend . what do you all say?

unless you are in bolivia it aint there by accident/these cacti dont grow like weeds, dont try to justify this to us.
if you aren't in bolivia you should be ashamed

taking someone elses stuff (even if they dont show any active interest) is stealing/wrong

I can tell you with this no doubt retarded post that it is bridgesii and very very active . btw this is my first ever psychedelic experience.

Hi guys just for some (sober) closure on this thread, that definitly was bridgesii, and amazingly potent , really suprised me . wow. that little insignificant plant growing in suburbia did that? woah! im going to have to take some more and plant in my garden.

You stole these cacti from someone that planted them in their own garden? Seriously? What kind of lowlife idiot are you? I am sorry for the harsh language, but seriously, that's fucked up!

Dont worry man , im not bothered , i get what you are saying totally. But they were growing there accidentaly. very obviously. So they didnt plant them . and it was on the outside of there property so its not like i broke in. and we left the most of what is pictured where it was. didnt take much. and I will be tacking a cutting from the extremly large one near it , and when ive got enough growth i will go and replant for the people. I apologize deeply if you still think it was wrong , and do understand what you are saying.but that reasoning was enough for me

Just noticed what you wrote dg , I dont think i can bullshit, cant argue with that. youre right.
Would you have a recommendation to redeem myself?

nope their bridgesii just hacked the spines is all :) and yeah id be pissed if those were my cacti that got jacked

What's the downside to cutting off the spines? I have one cactus that I would love to do this to, but have always wondered if there were any negative repercussions. another quick question - do long spines ALWAYS indicate bridgesii? I was sold 2 torches, one of which has distinctly long and thick spines, while the other has small thin ones...(?)
