Quick question Cybs' Hybrid ATB 'Salt' Tek

Hi everyone! I spent all night trying to do my first extraction, I decided yo follow Cubs Hybrid salt tek, everything was going fine until it was the moment to perform my first pull. I noticed that the mixing bottle had separated into 3 different layers: The naphta on top, black in the middle and a bigger brown layer on the bottom.

I used the correct amounts for everything, but somehow after adding the lye, the mix didn't turned as dark as in Tek's pictures. Could the problem be that I didn't add enough Lye? I'm using s fairly cheap Chinese scale, so maybe it's not very accurate :/

I went ahead and syphoned the naphta into a glass dish, it was very clear, not milky at all. I'm guessing that maybe I didn't use enough Lye :/

Any tips?

I never see any milkiness in my solvent until after I've evaporated it down before freeze precipitation. So, you really won't know until you've done similarly.

From the way it looks, it looks like some of the bark settled at the bottom, leaving a dark aqueous layer in the middle, and the solvent on top. Adding more lye doesn't hurt.

I'd say see what happens after evaporating and freeze precipitating. Don't expect much from one pull, but if there's something, then you can probably keep going without worry.

I appreciate the input 😊. What do you reckon could've caused the bark settling at the bottom? Not enough shaking? Not enough lye?
