Quick question on b caapi alkaloid extraction

Hi I'm currently doing a b caapi extraction. I'm letting the lye caapi solution settle for the first time, alkaloids are formed and slowly falling in spirals to the bottom. It's been resting about 15 h but only about 2cm of the solution is clear. There still a lot of alkaloids falling. Just wondering if it's normal as the tekI'm following doesn't specify. Is there any way to speed it up?

hmmm after 15 hours most/all should have settled. You could try running the liquid through a filter anyways, and then adding a bit more lye and putting it in the fridge for another day to see if more crashes out.

How much b caapi was that from? How did you brew the caapi?

I followed this tek to the letter only difference is I used 50g shredded caapi vine, instead of 64.
I also poured the solution through coffe filters instead of a strainer. I ended up with about 380ml so I put in just under 5g sodium hydroxide. I also probably brewed for 30-40 mins 4 times. (Before the naoh)

ok, 50g of caapi probably won't be much in terms of harmalas, so maybe that's indeed all you'll get.

Did you already consume this caapi orally before?

Was this powdered when you were brewing, or finely shredded?

No I haven't tried it oraly before, And i suppose it was finely shredded.
If what your saying it correct, then I shouldn't worry about the little swirls on the edge?
And just siphon carfully leaving behind what I can?

Also I didn't put it in the fridge, have moved it now, will that make a big difference?

well syphon to get the bottom stuff, but I'd definitely also run the liquid through a coffee filter to get whatever was floating and didnt settle just in case, even though it might take a while to filter.

Not sure if the fridge will make a big difference but its worth a try

Good luck, let us know how it goes! Some caapi arent very strong, others are more, so this will also be a factor you wont know beforehand.. Thats why i asked if you had consumed, because then you might have an idea already on how strong.. but at this point i guess all you can do is finish this up and see how much % alkaloids are there in the end.

I recently did my first Cielo extraction.
The first 500 grams yielded 900mg Alkaloids.
So I cooked the other 500 grams I had and added the 900mg during the vinegar impurity removal part of the tek. I did that part 3 times by the way.
My alks are drying now .
When the correct ph was achieved I put it through a coffee filter then placed that under a fan. Its nearly dry now but it looks like a joke of a yield.
After testing some of the first batch in some Changa , im not impressed.
I think I will only ever buy black Caapi from now on.
Its super strong and it just agrees with me.

make sure your black caapi is not alicia anisopetala though, since that doesn't contain harmalas. You need to see the cross section. Check out related threads linked in my signature.

All done here's a pic........also it looks like quite a bit but only weighing .23g is this normal? Maybe weight fluctuates from extraction to extraction?

There are many factors that contribute to the yield. The main factor being the vine itself.
A few things that have worked for me is:
1. Longer , softer boils.
2. Fumaric Acid as opposed to vinegar.

Also I've found that the yellow vine is the most generous Alkaloid wise and its effects are first class.
