I'm sorry for the dumb thread title. It's the only way I'm pretty much sure people will click and not checking out these two programs would be a real shame because they make your computer work a lot less demanding on the eyes.
F.Lux/Red Shift "adjusts the color temperature according to the position of the sun. A different color temperature is set during night and daytime. During twilight and early morning, the color temperature transitions smoothly from night to daytime temperature to allow your eyes to slowly adapt".
Windows users - f.Lux - Also for Mac OS X/Linux/iPhonee
Linux users - Redshift - Also for Ubuntu, OpenBSD, FreeBSD

You can also disable f.Lux (don't know about RedShift) for an hour, for any color sensitive work.
