I'm sorry for the dumb thread title. It's the only way I'm pretty much sure people will click and not checking out these two programs would be a real shame because they make your computer work a lot less demanding on the eyes.

F.Lux/Red Shift "adjusts the color temperature according to the position of the sun. A different color temperature is set during night and daytime. During twilight and early morning, the color temperature transitions smoothly from night to daytime temperature to allow your eyes to slowly adapt".

Windows users - f.Lux - Also for Mac OS X/Linux/iPhonee
Linux users - Redshift - Also for Ubuntu, OpenBSD, FreeBSD

Try it out, if it's just ShaolinHypeTM, let me know so I'll stop using wacky thread titles, if it's great tell a friend !

I just installed it. My screen looks weird now

It's working then :D You can also disable f.Lux (don't know about RedShift) for an hour, for any color sensitive work.

Oh my god, at first I disliked the red tint, but now after getting used to it, it's a blessing for my retina.

Thanks for sharing these little apps, brother!

I’ve been thinking for a while about the effect of using a computer late into the night on sleep, this could be quite a useful tool, it will probably take some getting used to though!

Thanks for the heads up :)

Thanks Shaolin! This is great! I particularly like the pointer contrast at night. My screen is right in front of a big window, so it makes a big difference especially at dusk and dawn.
