Hello all,

Recently I read some threads that start with good first post but then after a few posts go completely out of hand in the negative way. It seems people are reading the message wrong or people just write the wrong message, I see both happening. Also the use of bad language seems to be on a rise, something that is very unconstructive and gives a bad vibe to this forum.

The DMT-Nexus is a place where people can debate everything about DMT and other entheogens in a polite, respectful and constructive way. This has worked for the last few years and I won't allow grudgy feeling or whatever it is out there to take that away.

So here is a big red warning:
If I catch anyone stirring up trouble or in any way causing trouble you get suspended immediately for a week!

This might seem a bit harsh but seeing some recent threads get out of hand the way they did I don't believe small measures will help. I also don't care if anyone had a reason to act the way they did in recent threads, it's just not constructive and therefor not allowed.

Keep in mind that it is nearly impossible to make everyone like each other all the time.

I for one have never been offended on the Nexus... but I'm extremely (impossibly) hard to offend. I urge others to take up this philosophy.
 
I agree with Traveler that anyone disrespectful should be banned.

If my opinions have been some cause of this crackdown, then I'm sorry for causing disharmony, but I believe:
It's fine to have differing opinions and argue them rationally- that's debate.
It's not fine to instead hurl abuse at someone who says something you don't agree with.

Yeah I'm quite the same. Also a very peaceful and friendly person, but I do use offensive language in a non-offensive way which may not transmit well through script alone.

If a view I feel quite strongly against is opposed I do rise a little, but hopefully never above the stage of passive/aggressive (rarely) and always constructive first.
 
Sounds good. But what about clogging of the air waves by gibbering egos, surely that would suit some form of reprisal only as a means to quell the static.

Maybe instead of biting ones food he should focus on his tongue - I'll look into it!

There certianly has been. It has gotten out of hand on some threads.

Thank you Traveler. I hope that this fixes the issue, or at least has people take a deep breath before they hit the POST button.
 
Someone please tell me if I've been partly to blame. I'm concerned that my debates and criticisms may be taken as intended as something other than constructive.

This isn't me being egotistical in asking this- I ask because I'm aware that I can fixate on what is wrong- after all what's right doesn't need to be fixed.

It is easy to take offence in the written form, through misunderstanding, because one can't hear the tone of the speaker's voice.

While being constructive and respectful any critique in a debate is allowed and appreciated.

The people who misbehaved know very well that this is also a warning at their address, if you are doubting if this announcement is addressed at you then it's not pointed at you and you shouldn't worry.

I don't think there has been anything that bad going on.... y'all should see the bullshit that CONSTANTLY goes on at other forums.
 
This is my first post since my last and I haven't seen any of the trouble .....
When you remove the ego you recive an asshole, and when that asshole is anonymous, and meets your ego, you get trouble.
If you think there is somthing wrong then there is, mostly it's just how the world works.

Cool. I took the time to read the "Confessions of a spice junkie" thread well after it had ended. I only made it through a page and a half and it really hurt my heart to see what happened there.
 
The comments above about egos, assholes and that thread I posted in are ambiguous to me, and that makes me (possibly others) wonder what or whom they are referring to. It's making me paranoid! Or even worse maybe I'm not paranoid and I'm the one being referred to! Am I being called egotistical because I'm thinking this? (Insecurity is not egotistical) And other thoughts!

Isn't it better to just tell whoever you're referring to in as nice a way as possible what you think they need to know?

Please don't take this the wrong way- I don't want to make enemies of anyone and I'm speaking earnestly and without prejudice. Ambiguous comments leave some people wondering if they're the subject of such comments, which isn't going to help them. They're either going to think maybe they're being referred to but not do anything about it because maybe they're being paranoid as there's no certainty, or they're going to think it is directed at them when it isn't at all, or they're going to mistakenly think it's not directed at them.

I wasn't referring to you ohayoco. Just someone I find to be a true-pane sometimes, but I should just get over it. Other than that I love all!
 
It would seriously suck If everyone I'm around always agreed with me and everyone had the exact same ideas about life and stuff. I'd feel like I had no personality. I'm grateful for people that don't agree with me :)
