Hey everyone, been a long time since I've checked in.

To make a long story short... around November. I tried to substitute psychedelics for medications that I was on. But I failed miserably. I was also a heavy cannabis smoker. Since December, I quit cannabis cold Turkey and I stopped doing psychedelics. Because in my current mind state, I was not able to handle it. I needed a full reset and a recalibration of my brain.

I got a new doctor in February and got back on a medication regimen that works for me. I was very clear that I did not want SSRI's because I knew at some point I would return to psychedelics, and I didn't want to have any interference or blunting. Fast forward to going into May and I'm about 3 or four weeks away from having my first experience with mushrooms again. We increase the dose one last time on my newest medication, and I need to allow my mental health to get fully balanced.

Just wanted to make a post to reintroduce myself. And that I'm excited to return, I plan on. Doing very small doses at first, just to see how I handle it.

For the year leading up to my medication changes. And before I was having some mental issues, I was having incredible experiences with psychedelics. It was just toward the end I was I was struggling a bit.

Was curious if anyone has gone through this resetting on purpose? And then returning with a slow reintroduction.

I plan on starting with just half a gram of some lucid gates that I grew myself. And if all goes well two weeks from then I will go to a full gram, it increasing half a gram each time up until I get to about 2 to 3g. Because that seems to be my sweet spot. I'm sure it will all go well as I'm in a much better place already.

I also have some DMT freebase that I extracted myself last year and it's been in my freezer. After about a month to a month and a half of mushrooms, to see how I handle it, I will start reintroducing some smaller doses of DMT into my regimen. I'm thinking of starting at 15 mg. And then going up 5 mg each experience. I'm thinking I wanna get to about 30 to 40 mg. Because that seemed to be my sweet spot back in the day. I've done more than that, but I found the experience is a bit too intense. I've just wanted a full reset to make sure that I'm ready to go back to it.

What's crazy is there was a fear surrounding psychedelic use throughout this last 5 months time, as I've been in a very low place with depression and a lack of motivation. It's only been in the last couple of weeks I've become reinvigorated and excited about the possibility again.

Would love some of the experts to weigh in on my plan. And see if I'm sitting in the right ideas :)

Thanks, guys. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Welcome back to the forum, it's great to see you here!

I can totally relate to your situation - many of us have been through rough patches after more than enough psychedelics, coming to the sensible (but maybe reluctant) conclusion that it may be wise to lay off them for a bit. And that's great for a bit of integration time.

And while I wouldn't consider myself an expert in anything, I had my fair share of experience of the lows and difficult mental states. As long as you haven't been out-and-out psychotic there's likely still a place for psychedelics in your life, especially if you're able to apply the previous insights, methods and techniques that you've learned to your life in general as well as during your trips.

I think you might want to pay careful attention to the frequency of your trips such that you give yourself sufficient integration time between them. What also springs to mind here is something that was being discussed lately - it's possible to go with a lower does of mushrooms to provide a kind of psychedelic baseline which you can use for blasting off higher with a few hits of DMT now and then, as an alternative to a possibly more taxing ongoing effect of a higher dose of mushrooms. Just a thought that seemed relevant…

One more thing - what's your medication? Its compatibility with harmalas, or the lack thereof, would determine the possibility of introducing an additional dimension to your exploration.

See you round, stay safe!

Thanks for the reply!

No, no psychotic episodes, or anything like that. Just some heavy depression and lack of motivation. I was going through some heavy withdrawal tapering off medication, and I was off of them fully for a couple of months. And quitting cannabis at the same time I'm sure added more to it.

I'm definitely gonna cut down on the frequency. I was thinking of DMT sessions about once to twice per month maybe. And that's it... and mushrooms a couple of times a month as well. Not at the same time at first, maybe down-the-line, I can experiment with combining. I have a feeling starting low and slow will be best. Just to see how my mind handles it with the new medication.

I don't have anything in my new lineup of medication that will conflict much. Which is great. I just have one in the rotation called abilify that will Blunt effects a little bit based on research. But hopefully not too much. I was on that in my original psychedelic experiences and it seemed to not really interfere.

I wish I could use harmalas, I have plenty in the house. But sadly, I'm on a medication that would not mix well with psychedelics. Based on my research. It's called bupropion. It will raise blood pressure to a dangerous level if I combine. I also take lamictal which should have no negative mix.

My sweet spot for Mushroom use back in the day was around 4 to 5 g. Definitely don't need to go there right away. But I'll build up to it. As with DMT I'm going to wait a month or 2 with mushrooms to integrate that in just to make sure psychedelics treat me right again.
