Ronsonol/Solvent question: recent use?

Migrated topic.

hi everyone -

just a quick question:

has anyone used Ronsonol lighter fluid recently? in the yellow plastic bottles after the purchase by Zippo?

i've searched thoroughly and can't find any threads/entries dated since 2011 or so.

it seems to evap clean; yet pulls after first the spice seems really yellow and waxy. i know this could be fats/oils etc (it's MHRB, though) but wanted to see if there is any experience from our community in the past year or so.

primarily areas where VM&P is not available.

thanks

I checked the MSDS online for ronsonol. its listed as light naphtha 99%. I'm not acquainted with any DMT tech, but what your describing sounds more like lipids in an end product. I would try a more thorough defat next time. If your every curious about your chems, just check the MSDS, although I am in the US, I'm not to sure where your located. naphtha in general is more of a cocktail of different petrochems, but if it evaps clean and the info on the MSDS checks out you should be fine.

thanks....i am aware of MSDS, of course, but the problem is "rumor" has it that the formula has changed since it was acquired by Zippo, and i can't find an MSDS that seems fairly current.

it does evap 99% clean off several different test dishes (and a CD for good measure) - no residue, but a small ring circling where the liquid was. probably residue from the dish. not really a residue - i've seen bad stuff left behind from impure solvents.

i did a reX and got some huge crystals that must be pretty damn pure. haven't tried them yet - just wanting to be sure before i vape....

any more thoughts from anyone else (like a current MSDS link) would be most appreciated!

cheers!

SWIM is curious about this too. SWIM is currently searching for "safe" "clean" naphtha. SWIM is in US
SWIM read that Ronsonol/Zippo lighter flout is refined naphtha that does not contain carcinogens like benzine etc. However, check this 2018 msds https://certification.zippo.com/Doc.../English/Ronsonol Lighter Fuel - USA_2018.pdf

in composition it states "Distillates (petroleum), light distillate hydrotreating process, low-boiling" is that same as naphtha? AND what does 50-100% mean?

Did you ever find a resolution to this issue? I'm in a state where naphtha is banned. I'm going to try the ronsonol but am also getting a tiiiny ring, maybe the width of a hair, around the puddle in an evap test. Thoughts?
