Rue extract: Freebase vs HCl, convert freebase to HCl?

Over the past few years, SWIM tried some Harmala extracts both freebase and HCl, both full spectrum as well as isolated alkaloids.

One thing SWIM noticed is, the HCl's seem to be a little easier on the tummy.

SWIM theorizes this could be due to the freebase having a reaction with stomach acid, but ultimately SWIM never studied a lot of Chemistry and so is fairly unsure about acid-base reactions in vivo.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Secondly, I understand the process of putting the HCl in water and adding a base to precipitate the freebase form.

But what about the reverse: Is there a relatively simple process to convert the freebase back into the HCl? I ask because SWIM might have a gram or two left of some Harmine freebase that SWIM would like to convert to HCl.

Yes, it's called a manske precipitation. First you weigh your freebase to know how many doses you have. Then dissolve them in warm dilute vinegar solution (no worries about amounts, just some vinegar with some water is fine). Then you boil the solution, and add 10g salt per 100ml of solution (adapt to your amounts but keep the ratio). Then you put it in a glass, let it cool down slowly over a couple of hours. Harmala HCl needles will form. Just filter, and divide in the number of doses you have

another option-

i store a lot of harmalas in freebase form but like to take them in salt form. I simply weigh out desired freebase dose, and dissolve it in some fumaric acid saturated water before ingestion to convert the freebase to fumarates. gets them into the desired fumarate form, and the excess fumaric acid makes the solution taste like a tart drink rather than the bitter nastiness harmalas have.

OK, So now I've tried the manske preparation with a little less than 1 gram of Harmine freebase.

I'm currently attempting to use a paper coffee filter to filter out the crystals.

It sure is taking a drip-drop long time.

While I'm sure it will probably be done drip dropping by tomorrow morning, is there some other commonly available filter paper that might be better for this?

Let it sit in the fridge and most alkaloids should settle to the bottom, then you can decant away most of the liquid and save you some filtering time. But still youll need to filter at least some, and it will still be a bit of a pain in the ass. The first filtering is always the worse.

What I really really recommend is that you invest some money in this kind of set up:
